Five 18amp rails? That is like the perfect PSU to power...umm...four 5770's. tongue.gif

Yeah...I'd replace that with...something...even if it was just a $50 500watt PSU. It would be an upgrade most likely.

And they have like 5 rails of +12v too :doh

OP, maybe try using 1 of the pci e 6 pins and then use a 2 molex>6 pin adapter. Maybe drawing from the 2 different rails might give different results.

how the crap is it RAM related when it's happening with high powered video cards and not discreet ones? lol. I'll be dead honest, i have not taken out the RAM yet, but I just don't see that being the issue here.

have you tried testing with a voltmeter as I suggested in a earlier post? it really is the best way instead of guessing and swapping parts. smile.gif
I worked on a Alienware for a friends co-worker and the paperwork on their build showed they paid for a 950w psu to run the GTX 295 that came in it
but when problems started I removed both panels to work on it and the sticker on the psu showed it to be a 750w, what a bunch of crap as they paid for a 950w.
but try some voltage and amp testing.

Well actually I think a 7970 eats like...24amps or so just by itself (some where around there)...I think AMD recommends 40 amps total continuous amperage on the 12v rail to allow for the rest of the system and some overkill. If it could only access 18 from the pci-e power and 18 from the motherboard that is shared with the CPU...you could have a malnourished GPU on your hands.
