Congratulations.

Could you please post here:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1409797/the-haswell-death-degradation-thread

"The Haswell Death/Degradation Thread" and note that your CPU died after just one year running it overclocked at a mere 1.4V VCore? Doing so will help ppl by keeping the feedback all in one place.

On a related note, the folks at Hardware OCP already warned that anything over 1.35V VCORE 24/7 will degrade an Haswell pretty fast when conjoined with heavy loads and lots of working hours every day:

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/08/21/asus_maximus_vi_hero_lga_1150_motherboard_review/7

When I had posted the above, the thread got filled up by "angry protestor" type posters, who stated that they had been running their CPU at 1.6V VCore for several years, 24/7, and their CPU was never degraded or damaged, and therefore both the phenomenon of degradation, as well as electromigration as well as CPU damage due to excessive voltage was a myth according to them.

Looks like we are back into harsh, cold reality.

I wonder what happened to "Belial", the "Haswell Death/Degradation" thread starter and to his CPU, given that he ran his Haswell at or above 1.45V VCore. I would be extremely surprised if his CPU still survives in one piece.

My best guess would be that his Haswell became a part of his key ring.

what...your basing all that info from someone who obv has done little to no testing and sounds like sloppy work to me...and belial was actualy banned from these forums multiple times ive seen him on other forums lately....

im also not sure why you appear to be on some degrade rampage...there actualy is a lot of guys running 1.5v+ for sometime now with no issues so please do more research...I have one 4770k that is 1.51v 2.1v input V and ive had no issues at all 0 degradation etc...

am I saying thart everyone should run these high clocks and voltages no but this overclock.net not playitsafe.net also people don't delid their chips and risk hurting the chip to play it safe....they also have the intel tuning plan exactly for this reason...

its very funny when someone comes on these forums or any and claims they have killed their cpu from overclocking in the obv safe ranges for even air...yet his chip is delied nevermind the fact that he possibly damamged the chip during that process and it finaly ietehr cracked or finaly gave way...redface.gif:rolleyes:rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif

lol @ the above posts. I will breadboard it as soon as possible. Now I am truly doubting my cpu's death after reading what everyone said. I will see if it will post with just the mainboard, cpu, and one stick of ram. I also wondered if this mobo go into the bios without a cpu because I heard that some will do that. I called ASUS and one of their tech guys said no. Too bad, that would of been a surefire way of clarifying which one died.

I don't remember damaging my CPU when I delid it. It was so nerve wracking. I made sure I avoided touching the VRMs. I will see if I can get my hands on a 1150 chip and throw it in my mobo to see if it posts. I cleared the CMOS by the way. I even removed that damn battery in addition to resetting the jumper. That's not to mention the BIOS flashback I tried as well.

On the bright side, even if your Haswell has given up the ghost (which is the most likely scenario IMO), you just got yourself a brand new accoutrement to attach to your keyring.

actually Sev7_d asus brag that you can update/reinstall the bios with no cpu or ram. I remember commenting on this feature with great excitement.
so maybe a bios refresh with nothing mounted?

I hope you get it sorted out, good luck smile.gif

The OP has a rather major issue (no boot) and is simply putting the information a well as his theory on the table for the forum to either confirm or deny.

No offense but that's sort of the point of forums like this.....

Not really...when you make a thread claiming the death of a component that has been physically altered by the person....and that's about it.. with little to no info asides from his overclock settings in general which obv..are not the cuase....how does that help him or help anyone solve his issue lol...

hes done no testing as he stated and is working on it...perhaps you should understand how to open a troubleshooting thread as well.

It's now running a 4670k at 4.5 with 1.275 adaptive. I didn't need the extra 4 logical cores. So i just decided to get this instead. Such a shame. I am looking at my chip now... It's just sitting here on my desk staring at me.
