Hello OCN!

Thread Starter
I've only built one PC before, and that was a number of years ago. I've been working overtime for the last 3 months or so, and slowly buying parts one at a time for a new computer. I currently have all parts except CPU, MB, and CPU cooler! About another month to go and I should be ready to build. I plan to give the CPU and GPU mild, 24/7 safe overclocks.....not going for any records here.

My upcoming system:

Case: Thermaltake Overseer RX-1
CPU: 4770K
MB: Asus Maximus VI Formula
CPU cooler: Swiftech H220X (pre-ordered)
RAM: 32GB G.Skill Ripjaws Z CL10 2400 (yes, yes, it's too much....16GB kits I wanted kept being sold out)
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 1TB
SSHD: Seagate 2TB Hybrid
GPU: EVGA GTX 770 4GB Classified (with backplate)
PSU: Corsair AX860i (in case I do SLI in the future)
Optical: Asus BW-16D1HT

Case fans: All BitFenix Spectre Pro LED. Blue intake, Red exhaust
200mm front intake
200mm side intake
140mm bottom intake
120mm rear exhaust
200mm top exhaust
200mm top exhaust

The HUGE custom PCB on my GPU limits me to case fans 25mm tall or thinner. Even that might be pushing it if I want to fit a side intake. I think Cougar's are 25mm? But I already purchased all these LOL.

Coming in April/May:
ASUS Front Base fan controller
ASUS ROG SWIFT 2560P monitor, Display Port input

My current (quite old) Asus 26" 1080P monitor will become my second monitor. No Display port input, so HDMI.

I didn't realize the GTX 770 used GK104 instead of GK110.....but I still think it's good value at the price. And the "Front Base" fan controller is mainly for a little extra bling smile.gif My nephew is a typical console kiddie, and I'll have him help me build my new rig! With a little extra flash, maybe I can convince him just how superior PCs are compared to consoles.

I do really like my case, at least visually! And it has 90% of the features you could want. The biggest problem is that while it DOES accept 200mm fans, the factory fans that came with it were narrowed on the sides to clear the front and top removable covers. So I'm having to take a Dremel to my BitFenix replacement fans, and grind about 2mm of the plastic lip off each (left/right) side.

My last PC died 2 years ago now, and I've been making do with cheapo laptops >.< I've never owned a laptop before, and after 2 years I just couldn't take it any longer! I've found out, that as much as I hate to work overtime, I hate being saddled with a laptop even more tongue.gif
