Corsair cx430 and sapphire hd7850 OC 2Gb..? - Page 2

130 watts worth of heat only comes from 130 watts worth of energy.. cant make energy out of thin air.. watts is a factor of energy man.. doesn't matter how you get there

something I learned while getting my bachelors degree in electronic engineering..

heat is a product of inefficiency, it occurs when (in this case) electrons encounter resistance, the friction of the molecules generate heat.

I may have been mistaken for the term TDP, but physics is physics, you cant end up with 130 watts of heat with out at least that amount of energy being put in.

Yes but you are almost never going to be stressing your CPU 100% so you are almost never getting anywhere near max TDP which again means it wont be anywhere near 130 watts or TDP

Back to the point of the OP yes 430 watts is more then enough you dont need a bigger PSU if you already have the CX430

I agree with that

the psu is going to be closer to its max sustained out put is all I am trying to say.. yes it will work, yes the pc will boot and operate normally, just the psu will run hotter and thus not last nearly as long as it should. that is all I am trying to say.. I would if it were my build if I had the money to do so go with a bigger psu.

Yes the CX430 is more than capable of handling that system. I've got a CX 500 powering a 2500k @ 4.5ghz and a 7850 2GB factory OC @ 1Ghz.

You added up all the component's maximum power consumption. Daily use or even gaming will not subject all the components to 100% load at the same time.

Besides, although I don't care much about the CX series, these 'shall we say premium' PSUs are designed to deliver their rated output 24/7 for their entire operational life.
