Results aren't that much of an improvement for already high-end systems

I see the opposite, the only case mantle doesn't offer much improvement is in bandwidth limited scenarios (If AA is high or maxed, cards will choke regardless of API).

Cards will choke? Wouldn't exactly call 80FPS+ with high MSAA choking lol. But agree it's GPU limited

With Mantle is just bringing the FX CPU in game up par with Intel. Its a good thing for gamers but for other application it will be slower but not many people in the world population who do works video/render much everyday. Most are just Words, Excel, Emails.

In my opinion now, it is affordable to have an AMD rig for gaming.

I have an 8350 at 4.6ghz with a Sapphire 290X reference card at 1150/1350. Low fps went from 34 to 59, avg fps went from 53 to 72 at Maxed out settings. I'm quite happy with the performance increase. Adding water cooling to the GPU this weekend and hoping to lower the temps and increase my the clocks a bit more. Anxious to see if I get another performance increase.

Still doesn't get it...

Seems manipulated. Isn't mantle more important for lower end gpus?
Mantle is great for mid-spec PCs and PCs bottlenecked by CF to help get the most out of the cards. I think this is the idea behind it and it is quite successful at that.
