no, Mantle-Thief doesn't support multigpu yet... wait for the next updates

Mantle was always specific. The starswarm engine demo notes state that even when running 8350 at 2ghz, the engine was still GPU dependent. And it's supposed to be a RTS game which depends on CPU anyway.

Right now, mantle looks like this:

FPS and RPG games only see improvements on older CPUs. The games will be smoother no matter what cpu.
RTS games have more potential since the immersion will be the key. A lot more units and a lot better AI because CPU can do more things.

We don't have enough multi-gpu data but again, AMD CPUs were always criticized for bad multi-gpu performance, even new cpus should see benefits, and some new Intel cpus too.

But Look at this biggrin.gif According to extremetech, Intel can push crossfire setups even further than AMD cpus biggrin.gif

Meh

Thief doesn't really need mantle, you can pretty much play with max settings with a low-mid range gpu.

I'm more interested in True Audio to be honest.

I don't see why this is a thread about XX CPU vs XX CPU. I understand that mantle reduces the cpu overhead, but you should stop there. Truth is even with Mantle the performance of my R9 290 is lower with 14.X drivers compared to 13.12 drivers. Not sure what is up with that. Oh and this is not just the case in one game, but like EVERY game I've tested. I'm not jumping on the Mantle train yet, I will wait for it to make a few more stops.

i always thought mantel was meant for people with an older Sig rigs like mine who want to keep updating their GPU without having to worry about their old/weak CPU dragging the overall FPS experience to the lowest pits of hell..bashing mantel for under performing while Intel's latest and greatest is just beyond me wth.gif

first Crossfire is bottlenecked by whatever CPU in D3D 1920x1080, then why compare those CPUs with the 7850k APU headscratch.gif

Actually in DX at 1440p I believe I am somewhat CPU limited. I can crank up SSAA and turn on FXAA and will lose at most 1-2 FPS compared to with it off. I think with mantle (if they ever get CFX support) I should be able to boost my avg and min framerate to be able to run at perhaps 120hz/120fps. Right now the average is in the high 90's.

as far as DX goes 13.12's are the fastest for me so far as well, but with mantle in BF4 I gain quite a bit on my minimum FPS enough to be >120fps 99 percent of the time, with DX it's more like 40% of the time. in firestrike extreme I am consistently 200 points lower with any of the newer beta drivers.

Mantle is awesome. These are my results in my HTPC:

Everything maxed out @ 1080p. The rig is in my sig.

DirectX
Min: 21.9
Max: 54.8
Avg: 39.4

Mantle
Min: 38.6
Max: 65.7
Avg: 48.9

For my weak CPU mantle is great!

your calling the Core i5 2310 weak?

my Q6600 would like to have a word with you tongue.gif

but seriously..the 2310 is far from being a a weak gaming CPU..not even by 2014 standards
