I've spent a lot of time playing WoT since closed beta - it's a great game, but the devs really need some proper competition. AD could be a nice alternative, especially as WT:GF seems to be a bit too hardcore for my liking.
Assuming he/she stopped playing before they reduced the tier spread, then it wasn't impossible at that time. It currently is now, and he/she is just out of the loop and hasn't played the game for over a year. Or like you said, playing a scout tank or failplatoon.

I concur, WoT needs some competition, all they've done is say "hey here's more for you to waste your life on by endlessly grinding.". They're taking too long to pump out content that refreshes and revitalizes the game, the last exciting update was physics, which it's been almost a year since they've added it. I got bored of the game, plain and simple, it had a ton of potential but they haven't been given a reason to try and make it better.

Oh it's been at least a year since I last played WoT...probably a year and a half.

Indeed, i forgot the tier spread was larger just after CBT.

More importantly, the competition seems to be working already - here's a screenshot from the latest test server. smile.gif

Wow, this actually looks pretty great; and for a lot of reasons. It doesn't look horrifically biased (by what I can see), unlike World of Tanks and War Thunder, and it's always nice to see a Cryengine game.

I hope they don't make it very similar to WoT.

It's impossible for me to really play WoT casually with a friend while enjoying it too, since platooning gets you into MM with higher tier tanks and since T4/5 heavies can't even touch T8 heavies it's quite retarded getting one hit by one of them and then having to wait 15 minutes to reuse the tank in another game.

The only fun I get out of WoT is playing alone with the Tier 1-2 tanks because they're locked in and protected from that stupid tier garbage later on. The T1 Cunningham is mobile and powerful enough to be fun, and will always get into games with Tier 1/2 and the T18 TD usually only gets in with the same, once you go Tier 3 you're open to tier 5 heavies on the map. Do the same, but playing with one of your friends in a platoon, and you get tier 6 heavies on the map while both of you are in T3... that's where the game gets terrible.

Since I dislike how WoT does things, I am interested in what Obsidian will do. I'll have to give it a try when it comes out for sure, always liked tank games but most of them aren't what I'm looking for.

Very meh. I'll stay with WoT since I have more of an interest in WW2 than modern warfare. I suppose competition is a good thing though. Wargaming needs someone to light a fire under their asses.

Uh... Well T4/5 heavies are not supposed to be fighting Tier 8 tanks dude, At all, You need to learn to platoon which means selecting tanks that GET THE SAME MM, Tell your friend he needs to hang on to a couple low tier tanks. The normal MM spread is +/- 2 tiers, Tier 5 sees Tier VII at worst... Unless you played back before they overhauled the MM system entirely (Which was a LONG time ago)

Dont blame the game for you not understanding its basic mechanics

Anyways as for this, Looks interesting, Will probubly give it a play if only for Cryengine

Sorry for continuing the offtopic, but here's the current (8.11) matchmaking table:

I agree that this data should be available in game, as a lot of new players may be discouraged by seeing higher tiers without any explanation. However, once you start taking the table into account when creating platoons, you will never see tanks more than 2 tiers higher unless you want to.

Back when I played people kept saying any platoon added +1 to whatever the norm was. Both him and I in KV-1's would see T8's on the map pretty often and when I was alone, I never saw any.
This was quite a long time ago, maybe it's different now, but it was so bad it made me lose interest in it for a long time. When I get bored I'll check it out again.
