So could be that, theres still no denying AMD's competitiveness with pricing. newegg had the 8350 @ $170 and the 8320 @ 150 earlier this week.

Really? Because I have a pentium 3 @ 800mhz and a 8350 @ 5ghz and the pentium 3 definitely feels snappier and multi-tasks better.

I don't know about that man, my SSD equipped Wii feels snappier than my 8 core Xeons.

This all day.

The same people that have been saying for years AMD is stupid for throwing more cores out will be all over these forums, lauding these as the next best thing and then promptly play Skyrim or some other CPU limited games for weeks while benchmarking the greatness of Intels', single threaded capabilities and downplaying the fact that AMD is still right there in multi tasking/threaded capabilities.

You don't buy an 8 core CPU to just play games and run single threaded benchmarks. Unless, of course, you're from OCN.

Well the problem with that is amd has other things they should have been fixing up first like ipc before adding more cores. Intel is just toying with us on improvements in other departments atm. They don't really have a reason to release a behemoth upgrade chip atm because their only competition right now is "derp add more cores derp" from amd.

The difference is that with an AMD 8-core you have to compromise your single thread performance for those 8 cores.

It's not about the core count. It's about overall performance. And to no one's surprise i5-level AMD chips with single core IPC from 2007 aren't as exciting as top of the line intel chips with over twice the overall performance, new memory standards, etc.

And as for this:

Yes if we were talking about haswell i5s, those are the intel chips that trade blows with FX in multithreaded scenarios. Quad core haswell i7s leave AMD 8-cores behind by around 20%, and these 8-core haswell parts should be about twice as fast. More if you can clock them as high as a 4770K.

Quad core i7's also cost a lot more, but because it's AMD instead of comparing the FX8350 with the 4670 and 3570 it's compared with the more expensive 3770 and 4770 because it's the only way Intel can dominate. Also we are moving from single threaded programs to multi threaded.

There are even reviews in which the FX8350 is compared with the 3960X just to prove how 'bad' it is. The bias made me stop reading nearly all reviews as the bias is so thick it's like wading through sewage.
