Our work with Microsoft on DirectX 12 began more than four years ago with discussions about reducing resource overhead. For the past year, NVIDIA has been working closely with the DirectX team to deliver a working design and implementation of DX12 at GDC.

Gosalia demonstrated the new API with a tech demo of the Xbox One racing game Forza running on a PC powered by an NVIDIA GeForce Titan Black.

I dont think AMD even developed mantle, I think it was a different team/developers and they went along with it.

Mantle is basically obsolete within a space of a few months unless it brings new features or is more faster and efficient than DX12 lachen.gif

A few months? Unless the calendar somehow changed, we are looking at atleast a year and a half before we see DirectX12 games...

Mantle would still hang around, best for full AMD rig (mainstream level improvement) but with DX12, it brings both perfect worlds together.

^If DX12 delivers on everything promised, there's really no point in developing for Mantle.
