Forza + Ryse on PC late 2015

Well, I was hoping we'd see Forza on PC a lot sooner than 2015... :/
post #223 of 229
At last i will experience glorious QTEs in an ancient roman setting!

In the end DX12 seems a nice thing for everyone, a shame we have to wait a bit more than 1.5 years to see games that use it. NV giving support for fermi and older cards is pretty nice. I suppose AMD will support GCN cards (or at least hope).

About the DX12 vs Mantle thing, i don't think Mantle will disappear, in fact it's getting support from another mayor player in the engines world, Crytek. I don't thing they would take the effort to do it if they thought Mantle was going to die soon.

What i'm curious is about the DX12 beta this year, because they said DX12 games would be released targeting late 2015. So we can expect tech demos and things like that, but no games. While Mantle, in it's beta state, can already be tested in two games and more are coming this year. I suppose in the coming months we will know, anything else right now is just wild speculation.

It wouldn't surprise me if the experience and developed code from Mantle can in some way help AMD with their cards implementation of DX12. They might be linked in some way.

About Charlie and the inquirer i miss the nicknames: Chipzilla, Arab Micro Devices, DAMMIT, etc tongue.gif

Well, they had Forza and most of the other X1 games running on PC's using Nvidia GPU's back at E3 2013 anyway. I doubt the games will actually come to PC though, since they'd want to keep some exclusives on the X1 in order to have incentives for people to purchase them.

I'm curious as to how the DX12 "beta" will play out.

DX12 will be supported by Nvidia's current and past GPU architecture.
This should mean hardware feature set of those architecture (Mainly DX9.x,DX10.x,DX11.x) should be fully compatible to DX12 API.
Does this mean we might see DX12 support to existing GCN arch. as well ?
I'm just very curious to know.

I would almost assume, since DX12 is going to be supported by Fermi and up (coincidentially all dx11 cards), I can imagine it should be no problem to get the 5000 AMD series to work as well.

As someone with a 5000 series, I can't imagine still hanging on to what would be a 6-year-old GPU by the time this really gets rolling...

No to DX9/10, only DX11 compliant cards.
