Upgrade my sound parts

Hey all, Happy with my Microlab solo 7c's for the most part, I dont class them as an issue, They aint perfect just minor issues really, but i doubt ill be able to find something perfect for my tastes unless i have money to burn.

But i need more specific parts i believe, Like better quality cable all around if thats a thing? tongue.gif Maybe something else, I need Tuning parts more than "Better speakers" and that can be things like making sure everything is gold and all that jazz, whatever works.

Most importantly though is my sound card, I have a D2X that i have been happy with since i got it, Its one of them things until you have owned your first you cant live without one.

Its getting a bit old though, Im wondering if i should upgrade to the Essence STX .... Or maybe the STX II ? Cant have the STX II If the 7.1 card also needs to be installed, If i can just keep that in the box for the rest of its life then thats that.

Just wondering what all youse think i should do :/

Hopefully you disabled the motherboard on-board audio? in the BIOS.
The D2X and STX are really very much a like, the STX comes with an integrated headphone amplifier, the D2X does not.
Is the audio set for speakers, headphones or speakers & headphones.
If just for headphones, buy a O2 or Schiit Magni headphone amplifier, plug the amp into the D2X and the headphones into the amp.

Yup, Goes without saying really when you have a dedicated sound card.

I dont use headphones at all, If i want to use vent or whatever in games i use a clip on mic

Kinda still want the STX as it has RCA right on the card.

You will not have any noticeable improvement in audio quality switching from a 3.5mm jack to RCA jacks on a sound card.
Here is a low cost "Premium" cable, $3.00+shipping.

You might consider removing the Asus software and installing the "Unified Xonar Drivers".

Use Foobar2000 for playing audio files (add the WASAPI component).
