Ordered wrong fittings and tubing

Hi everyone, this is my first post here on this awesome forum I have been lurking on for quite some time biggrin.gif

I just ordered everything I need for my first Water cooling setup online and the order has already been shipped ( I live in Iceland btw) and I just figured out that I bought wrong fittings and tubing.

I thought the Inner diameter number was indicating that it was for G 1/4" fittings, its silly, I know, i just didn't realize it when I was ordering it. So I bought barbs for tubes with 1/4" ID and 3/8" OD.

These tubes and fittings are very small and I was wondering if this will have any impact on the cooling or the performance
of the pump by using those tubing until I can order 1/2" barbs and tubes ?

The setup is :

Alphacool VPP655 Variable Speed Pump - HF Top Edition - Acrylic

Coolgate Triple 120mm Ultimate Heat Exchanger Radiator (CG360)

Coolgate Dual 120mm Ultimate Heat Exchanger Radiator (CG240)

EK supreme High flow CPU block

Full EK block for my grapics card

275ml reservoir

Tygon E-3603 1/4" ID (3/8" OD)

The CPU is a AMD 1090T and a AMD 6970 OC GPU.

Will the small tubing cause me any troubles ?

Thanks thumb.gif

I heard that it doesn't effect performance but just make sure the tubing and fitting sizes match and you should be fine.

There will be nearly no impact on flow rate. Just keep the fittings. 1/4" tubing can look good and is super easy to route.

Ok tanks guys for the quick answers, I'll just keep the 1/4" fittings when they arrive, I have to squeeze both radiators into a Corsair 650D so maybe its good to have smaller tubing hahaha biggrin.gif

I cant wait to see it.
I did 2 RADs in my 600T a 360 and a 200
I run 3/8 x 5/8 tubing and with a thick wall it does not flex as good as I would like.

Honestly I would just get some proper sized tubing and fittings. 3/8 Inner diameter is like 9.5mm, 1/4 inner is a little over 6mm. The difference between flow rates between 3/8 ID and 1/2 ID tubing is normally minimal but once you get below 10mm the resistance starts to rise sharply with each mm smaller. 6mm ID would have to be much more flow restriction, especially when combined with the D5 that doesn't cope with restriction quite as well as DDC's.
This could cause a significant flow rate reduction.

I'm not totally familiar with the maths of it but this online calculator
http://www.pressure-drop.com/Online-Calculator/

If you compare 2m of 10mm pipe at 225KG/h (1Gpm) you get 0.3 PSI pressure drop
to 2m of 6mm pipe you get 3.4 PSI drop
