Bios update now won't boot up need help - Page 4

Ok I returned the 760 and got the R7 260x and same thing. Won't even let me into the Bios. Could I have gotten two bad cards? As the GTX 280 still boots up the pc just fine. Someone was suggesting for me to get the R9 270X Gaming GPU said they have one and it has a DIM Switch for switching it to Legacy.

I got a 650W PSU and upgraded it so that shouldn't be the problem right?

Thanks

No the PSU will handle the components just fine.

I thought the computer was already runing fine on the 760, but I'm assuming you only got it to run again on the GTX 280 thinking.gif

Were you able to get into the BIOS with the 760?
Are you on the newest motherboard bios?
Have you run your GTX 280 with the new PSU? if yes, could you boot?

It's very unlikely that you got two bad cards in a row. I'd always suggest testing the card in a different PC to check if it's really defective.

It's a thermaltake Psu.

When I tried the gtx 760 it wouldn't do anything so I read and people said update the bios which I did then it wouldn't boot turned out I had to switch the bios setting to ahci. But I messed up the boot files so I reinstalled windows and up and running with the old 280. Still the 760 doesn't boot up. I returned it and got the R7 260x and it does the same only there ain't no activity light. At least the 760 it actually sounded like the pc was doing something but it was froze with the startup screen where it shows f12 for boot options or del for bios.

Should I update my bios to the uefi I believe it was? The one for windows 8 which I don't have just to see if that would work?

Can't tell it's model number is

SP-650P
Smart 650w w/active PFC

Has flat modular cables

Should I get a gpu that is only 400w required? There is one more option at bestbuy which is the gtx 650ti. Or just order one online at newegg. People suggest the Radeon 7950 and another suggest the Msi 270x gaming Psu with the DIM switch said Turning it to legacy let his boot up.

There no video card that requires 400 watts that for the whole system not the card

And SP-650P is a CWT made model

So why you think the video cards wont let me boot up? Not enough power or motherboard not compatible?
