AMD Error

Thread Starter
I have an AMD 8400, it came with the system. Every game I play works, save for a few. They will freeze and I will get : "AMD driver has stopped working and has successfully recovered" but it's still frozen. I have been told to increase the voltage of my card, but it came with the system, shouldn't it be fine? How do I increase the voltage? Could it be harmful to my PC? Obviously, I'm rather new to this.

Basically that error means your graphic card drivers are crashing.

Try going to AMD's site and updating the drivers. This is assuming you aren't overclocking.

Who told you to increase the voltage? I don't see how that could effect anything unless you have been overclocking your card. Which it doesn't sound like you have been. If you overclocked and the card/drivers are crashing, then yes increasing voltage will help OR reducing the overclock.

If you aren't overclocking the drivers/card shouldn't just crash, low FPS yes but not crash. Does your card meet the requirements to play those few games? If not, that is probably the problem as well. The card isn't good enough and is getting strained to much that it crashes.

If this helped please hit the rep button!

I have tried updating the drivers to the latest version, the problem is still there when I play certain games. My card isn't overclocked and the only frame drops I get are just before the error. My card does meet the requirements for the games I play, but I still play on lower settings and still get the error.

What games do you have problems in and what games are fine?

Literally only Dota 2 is the one that freezes. Skyrim, Fallout and others work fine, albeit slowly. When I'm a few minutes in, my Dota game freezes, but now the sound. The sound continues to play like nothing has happened, but the picture is frozen.

Not using a cracked version are you?

Maybe there's something wrong with the game.
