I must have misunderstood this as from you. My fault i didnt realize this wasnt you rolleyes.gif Just to clarify, you are using the onboard nic? Do you have an available extra nic card and room for it? At least for testing.

Hey man I was having this issue with a p8z68-v gen 3

If I remember correctly it had to do with allowing USB devices to wake my computer. That said though I would start with making it so NO devices including wake on lan are able to start your computer up.

I think hes trying to avoid that option as that gets used.

Oh that's why, lol. Yes I'm using the onboard intel nic but I don't have space to use another one since my case is all cramped up with SLI.

Yeah, I really am avoiding disabling wol since I'm using it. It's not also the USB wakeup since it doesn't turn on when I press any keyboard key and mouse button. Can any other USB device wake it up though?

Now we are getting somewhere. Almost any kind of signal interference may be able to trigger the power up. Some one turning on a microwave, a truck on a CB, who knows, point is that it could be anything that may interfere with that wireless signal. Is it possible for you to run wired as opposed to wireless?

After paying attention to users I now realize we have multiple issues here biggrin.gif

I suppose its possible, what other USB devices are plugged in? Your also powering on from standby and not waking from sleep correct? If you're powering on from standby I would say probably not. If the computer is sleeping other devices may be able to wake it. There also may be some special setups with keyboards and the like combined with bios features that allow a power on from standby from a USB device. Typically when the computer is off (standby) USB devices aren't powered. Though I have seen USB devices that can stay live even when the computer is off as long as its still plugged in of course. My shuttle SZ77r5 does this to allow charging of phones and such even if the computer is off, and I'd have to double check but I think if a keyboard is plugged into one of those ports I can power on with a special key combo. I wonder if there are any firmware updates for the nic (not drivers) that may address this issue.

Heres what I found for the pro version of your board, which may have the same nic. You can verify that in device manager.

http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P8Z68-V+PRO%2FGEN3&os=30

Which is here:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=22026

It doesnt state this will fix your issue in particular but it may be worth a shot.
