It seems like you need a particular sound cord or particular on board audio chip. If you meet the minimum requirements, it LOOKS like it would suit your needs.

it seems it has kind of an issue depending on the soundcard you are using.. some cards dont like it.. thats odd.

Most "consumer grade" "noise-cancelling" microphones don't actually cancel any noise. They auto-mute themselves at some arbitrary noise level. That's not what you want, so I generally don't recommend anything that calls itself noise cancelling.

The only respectable way to combat noise on the cheap is to put whatever microphone you have (hopefully a directional mic) as close to your mouth (the sound source) as possible and as far from your keyboards or fans as possible.

Alternatively, instead of replacing the hardware, you may also try a noise cancellation software.
