im getting a fx 6300 and i have 8gb ddr3 ram and this board http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4417#sp

1 i have 8gb ddr3 ram 1600mhz and im thinking of getting 2x (2gb to run with my 8gb will it work ?

2 if i do crossfire will my 2 pcie 16x slots runs an 4x speed will that be bad in performace

So long as you have 2 open slots for RAM and the 2x2 isn't massively different speed/timing wise from the current 8GB kit I see no compatibility/performance issues.

As far as the PCI-e speeds on your motherboard when using 2 GPU's the board will divide the X-16 bandwidth between the 2 and run them X-8, this is one of the bigger down sides to the 970 platform. Now if it will hurt performance entirely depends on what GPU's are being used. If you are planning to run a couple 7770's or something comparable then no you will not have any issues. Now if you are looking into the upper tiers like 7870/R9-260+ then yes I do forsee some bottlenecking on the PCI-e bus

Ok so you should be just fine with the RAM. That said, running 2 7870's in CF on that board is not going to perform at it full potential due to a PCI-e bottleneck.

The GA-970A-UD3 is a killer value overclocking board so long as you are only running 1 GPU. The 970 chip-set was never really made with high end CFX in mind, that is what the top end 990/990FX chip-sets are for.

I think your 8Gb will be plenty but the CFX I'm not certain that board even supports it.

You are looking to add a *single* 2GB stick to your existing 2x4GB ??

If so this will change your IMC (memory controller) from dual channel to single channel memory operation and this will lower the memory systems over all performance despite the added 2 GB capacity. If this is the case I would suggest sticking the the 8GB 2x4GB kit as 8GB is plenty for most any task.

then whats the highest gpu that wouldnt bottleneck my cpu

It technically will "support" the 7870 CF but it will run the pci-e slots at X8/2 therefor negating the performance of running the 2 cards to begin with making it basically pointless.
