Should I be Happy? 3570K & ASRock Z77 Extreme6

Ok, I got rid of the junky Gigabyte board that I started this project with. Now I moved up to a ASRock Extreme 6, H110 Water cooled and Corsair Vengeance ram modules. Not trying to over clock those.

I followed the guide for the Extreme 4 and the helped me out tremendously and I was able to get as high as 4.9Ghz at idle but it would crash after throwing a load at it. I backed it down to 4.8 Ghz. I found that if I UPPED my PLL voltage, it actually dropped my temps at full load significantly. At 4.8 Ghz, I was seeing temps as high as 105 C but with a raised PLL voltage its only getting to about 85 C. idle, I'm seeing 30C on two cores and 35 on the other two.

I'm still seeing WHEA errors in Windows. My blue screens, I can't decode. I can see them but none of them match up to what I'm seeing on the guide. I do get random crash BSODs and also Titanfall sometimes will just lock up and crash.

What is truly strange is that on Core Temp, I'm seeing voltages of 1.23 and up, but nothing over 1.3v. On Extreme Tuner, which is what I'm using to tune, I'm seeing 1.42v or 1.43v. The voltages don't match.

Until I started upping the voltage, I couldn't get over 4.5Ghz.

Honestly, I'd like to see 5Ghz....

Is it possible?

Here are my settings right now from Extreme Tuning:

CPU Voltage: 1.460
PCHv 1.059
VTTv 1.020
CPU PLLv 1.653
VCCSAv .925

To see 5ghz you will need to de-lid. Your temps are very high for idle. Id say stay with 4.4 or 4.5 and be happy.
Worse than crack.

Very high for idle is a funny term, I idle at 34/32/36/30 and that is with 1.4 in cpu voltage and I have the cooling in my sign. But yeah, you need to delid, theres only a certan point you can cool this cpu even with the best watercooling stuff there is. I run 4.8ghz prime95 stable, cant remember how many hours I tested but its game and application stable, been runing it for about 1.5-2 years like this, OC on day one. As long as temps are under 90C during benchmark its all okay according to the different guides here. I cant remember my temps during benchmark, but possibly around 80-85C in the summer if im not wrong. I have LLC and vdrop compensation and all that to the highest due to vcrop during load. 1.4V = 1.368V during full load. No offset OC on this board though.

Are you overclocking in fixed mode? Why not use offset mode w/ C1E and Speedstep enabled so the CPU can downclock to a 16 multiplier at idle.

Core Temp is displaying the VID not the Vcore. Use CPU-z to see the correct Vcore at Idle & Full Load

I would suggest looking at the guide below to setup your bios correctly
http://www.overclock.net/t/1198504/complete-overclocking-guide-sandy-bridge-ivy-bridge-asrock-edition

You can also take screen shots of your bios settings by formatting a Flash Drive in FAT32, rebooting into bios and pressing F12.

I'm safely at 4.7 Ghz. Been running for a few days. Running fixed mode at 1.35v or 1.38v. Temps run avg of 79 to 80 degrees at the hottest on one core. I ran Prime95 on blend mode and it ran for an all night session with no issues. I was running Prime95 according to that ASRock guide and it was crashing. I was running Custom, 4 threads, Max FFT at 1792 and Mem to use at 4096. When I ran that, it wouldn't stay stable very long passed 4.4 or so. Ran blend and it was fine.

I may de-lid eventually, but I need better thermal paste.

Thanks.
