Motherbaord refues to turn on until I remove and reinster the 24 pin?

Well, I am having a funky issue. I believe that I have narrowed it down to the motherboard being the problem. I have a Biostar TA990FXE motherboard with a Cooler Master V1000 power supply and it refuses to turn on until I remove and reinsert the 24 pin. This does not happen all the time however. It seems to happen when my computer has been off for extended periods of time (eg overnite), I was having this problem and I managed to narrow it down to when I had my computer off for 10 hours or more. Since then I did a BIOS reset (removed my OC, and all setting default buy ACHI not Legacy IDE) and that seemed to have fixed it up, over the next few days I would ensure that I left the computer off for a specific amount of time prior to turn it on (8-14 hours) and it was working. Then came today, I left the computer off for 18 hours and it did not turn on once again. Here is a list of things, other than removing/reinserting the 24 pin, that I have tried to fix it:

  • Jump the power header
  • Clear the CMOS
  • Remove the CMOS battery and reinsert
  • Get a new CMOS battery
  • Toggle the power switch on PSU
  • Wiggle the 24 pin while still connected

Another thing worth mentioning is that when I jump the 24 pin with a paperclip, the PSU and all my case fans turn on just fine.

So, any thoughts on what might be happening?

Here are my specs:
  • Biostar TA990FXE
  • AMD Phenom II x6 1090t
  • 16GB DDR3 RAM @ 1333 MHz
  • 128GB Corsair Force GS
  • 2TB Seagate Barracuda
  • MSI Twin Frozr IV R9 290x
  • Cooler Master v1000 PSU

Thanks

Use isopropyl alcohol to clean out the connector and the port .

I guess I could try that.
