I'd disagree, however I has the MSI 290 gaming. My 780ti smashes the 290 I had. But.... I may have had a bad card because mine got too hot and throttled to ~950nhz or so with all fans maxed out.

Ti is faster than a 290. We're talking about 780 vs 290 here.

Newegg has a XFX R9 290 for $439 (ends today). That appears to be a clear win between a 290 vs 780.

SAPPHIRE TRI-X R9 290 (NON X)4GB GDDR5 OC faster than 780Ti OC in my machine on 3dMark 2013.
Also in games it the same or goes back and fourth FPS wise.My 290 Crossfire is faster than my 780Ti SLI in most games .
R9 290 are coming down in price and a way better deal than 780GTX/Ti IMO.

780Ti boost clock ran at 1219 core
R9 290 ran at 1200 core
