Hmmm. I'm now thinking I should go with the 4670k. I do a lot of video encoding and gaming so I'd love the extra speed and fps for only a little bit more money. Recommended motherboard chip set for has well over clocking?

How about this board..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128675

or this one by Biostar..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138380

There are too many negative reviews about bent pins upon delivery for the extreme3. I do not want any problems with this build that I can avoid. And since one poster told me about the voltage problem, I may as well avoid the extreme3. I will go for a name brand I trust and that would include ASUS, Biostar, or Gigabyte. The ASUS boards are very ugly that are in my budget so unless someone has had good luck with any of their cheaper models I don't think I'll be buying one.

I've decided upon the Zalman CNPS14X for the CPU cooler, but I'm worried about it covering two of my RAM slots like my current cooler.

The problem was on z77 extreme3

Anyway that z87x-hd3 seems really good,I would go with it

There could be heatsinks that dont block ram slot like the silverstone heligom he01 or the thermalright true spirit 140(but the true spirit is 170mm)

Another heatsink that could fit is the thernaltake nic c5(check my guide)

See this

Not sure of the lower end ones, or even really Haswell boards at all any more. All i can say is avoid the Biostar, even if it's a decent board because all of them seem to behave differently with voltages and people have a hard enough time understanding the big names like Gigabyte and Asus to know a board that practically nobody has biggrin.gif

I'm actually going with this board. Seems solid and reviews say it is good for the price.

I seem to have stumbled upon a great cpu cooler but not sure exactly how huge it is. I think I'll probably end up going with this one seeing as how I'm only using two sticks of RAM anyways and they don't have stupid heatsinks on them (RAM heatsinks annoy me).

Phanteks PH-TC14PE

I was actually reading a review for a Noctua when I noticed this one finishes second to a corsair H110! That's pretty impressive for an air cooler. PontiacGTX, whats your opinion this cooler?

Let me do the reaerch tomorrow because i cant remember the exact performance of the nh u12s on lga115x,

As for the phanteks clearance with memoryhttp://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/phanteks_ph_tc14pe_cpu_cooler_review,7.html

The phanteks is 1 or 2 degrees better than the heligon he01(which uses a 140x38mm fan) anyway the phanteks uses 2 low static pressure fans

And it`s supposed that noctua should be launching a mew dual tower heatsink

Thanks for the link. But I'm afraid that it just won't fit in my case.. the scythe mugen 2 thats already in there is almost touching the side panel as it is. I'm sad now. I wanted to possess a total monster of an air cooler and now I can't.. oh well I'll most likely go with the Noctua NH-U12S which is almost as good. Or perhaps the Phanteks PH-TC12DX.. I'll have to read more reviews to decide.

The budget is being pushed that's for sure. I can push it just a little further and get the 4770k smile.gif I've always wanted a beastly intel computer and now I'm about to have it. Oh the joy of technology. I'm overall satisfed with the parts I have picked out and I think I will be happy for a Very long time.

RAM

CPU

MOTHERBOARD
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128591

and the cooler is still up in the air.

I'll be at a grand total of around 600 dollars but I'll manage and I think that it's all very much worth it in the long run. Next big upgrade will be to buy another 7870 tahiti and have my first crossfire setup. I'll have a blazing fast PC at that point.

Another question.. Is windows 8 worth it? I've been toying around with it and I think I kind of like it but is it an ideal platform for gaming as of yet?

It has some drawbacks, mainly just silly things like this which you have to mess around with:
