Also having a younger actor cast as an older Sam Fisher just doesn't quite cut it, even more so for a voice actor (there's zero reason to not use the voice, it's not like Michael Ironside needs to do split jumps or anything). It's like casting a black Johnny Storm or a white Tiger Lily. The actor might be great, but if they don't suit the part aesthetically they just don't suit the part. Having that aged veteran voice is Sam Fisher because that's his character. Not some young stereotypical "yo bro" voice.
There's also continuity to think of. Hulk was a great example here, the Batman films another. Sure there may be reasons that someone had to be switched out, but that doesn't mean everyone has to like the new choice. On this note I feel sorry for anyone who tries to step into the shoes of the Iron Man character. That's such big shoes to fill I think it will just end up being retired.
As for Dr Who, there's at least a valid reason why each Doctor is different worked into the storyline, so not necessarily the greatest choice to make a point. Bond was better, though with Bond it's more of a tradition. For the record I don't think the same way of any of the Bonds. I have a favourite but I don't see any of them specifically as the character. Mainly because the actor is always changing and there's no continuity.
People will always have favourites and it's pretty pointless to try and dictate to people that they shouldn't. It doesn't mean they can't or won't enjoy something, just that to them it's not the same as what they preferred. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
That's fine but too many people just go "BOOOOO Won't work!" or hate a movie because they don't like the actor. You don't have to like who the actor is, if they played the part well just enjoy the movie. It's fine that you can have a favorite, or think somebody would be better but to have such distaste over something so trivial. Just enjoy the movie for what it is, a good show.
As for a younger actor playing an older role. We don't know where in the storyline this is going, even so maybe they want to change it up to appeal to a broader audience? It's nice to get a move to be EXACTLY like the game, right? Is it? Is that what matters? Re-living those game moments, or just having something you can watch and get a new take on the same story? Even the series as a whole doesn't have perfect story, no game does really. Things get left out, unexplained, it's pretty routine by now. I don't understand why people can't just sit back and watch something without expectations. As soon as you have expectations, you are going to be let down somewhere. If you like something a lot, no matter what you do, bringing expectations is going to set you for heartache.
