[GS]Splinter Cell movie gets The Bourne Identity director - Page 3

This is just a spy movie that just happens to have Splinter Cell tag on it. The movie will be an okay movie. It won't suck like most video game movies. Expect the story and pacing to not be related at all to the actual game

I don't need to learn anything. I prefer Michael Ironside as the voice of Sam Fisher and always will. Why? Because the voice and character fit together like a glove. Nothing can or will change that.

Also having a younger actor cast as an older Sam Fisher just doesn't quite cut it, even more so for a voice actor (there's zero reason to not use the voice, it's not like Michael Ironside needs to do split jumps or anything). It's like casting a black Johnny Storm or a white Tiger Lily. The actor might be great, but if they don't suit the part aesthetically they just don't suit the part. Having that aged veteran voice is Sam Fisher because that's his character. Not some young stereotypical "yo bro" voice.

There's also continuity to think of. Hulk was a great example here, the Batman films another. Sure there may be reasons that someone had to be switched out, but that doesn't mean everyone has to like the new choice. On this note I feel sorry for anyone who tries to step into the shoes of the Iron Man character. That's such big shoes to fill I think it will just end up being retired.

As for Dr Who, there's at least a valid reason why each Doctor is different worked into the storyline, so not necessarily the greatest choice to make a point. Bond was better, though with Bond it's more of a tradition. For the record I don't think the same way of any of the Bonds. I have a favourite but I don't see any of them specifically as the character. Mainly because the actor is always changing and there's no continuity.

People will always have favourites and it's pretty pointless to try and dictate to people that they shouldn't. It doesn't mean they can't or won't enjoy something, just that to them it's not the same as what they preferred. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

If the director is the same due who did the Jason Bourne films, what's stopping this form being another Jason Bourne-like film?

A quick online search though seems to say that he's more than capable. hmmm.......

That's fine but too many people just go "BOOOOO Won't work!" or hate a movie because they don't like the actor. You don't have to like who the actor is, if they played the part well just enjoy the movie. It's fine that you can have a favorite, or think somebody would be better but to have such distaste over something so trivial. Just enjoy the movie for what it is, a good show.

As for a younger actor playing an older role. We don't know where in the storyline this is going, even so maybe they want to change it up to appeal to a broader audience? It's nice to get a move to be EXACTLY like the game, right? Is it? Is that what matters? Re-living those game moments, or just having something you can watch and get a new take on the same story? Even the series as a whole doesn't have perfect story, no game does really. Things get left out, unexplained, it's pretty routine by now. I don't understand why people can't just sit back and watch something without expectations. As soon as you have expectations, you are going to be let down somewhere. If you like something a lot, no matter what you do, bringing expectations is going to set you for heartache.

Personally I hated Matt Damon when he first started out and in the first couple Bourne movies.

But I have to say he's becoming better over the years. His recent movies are nice.

Great...so every action scene is going to have the camera man jumping up and down so it looks like they are fighting in an earthquake.

I haven't seen Tom Hardy play a bad part to be honest. Very versatile too as Bronson and Dark Knight Rises both showed.

Hardy is, indeed, a great actor. He was good as Bane, great in Warrior, hilarious in This Means War, Inception and others. He is very versatile but whether this will be a good film we will see.

I was so disappointed in Max Payne I didn't even watch Hitman, films based off games usually end up badly but The Bourne series are good.

Here's to hoping Liman can put something much better together this time.

Even if you're a martial arts expert you have to be able to look at a film, knowing these actors aren't, and take it with a grain of salt. Not even all of Jackie Chan's fighting scenes are great and they slow his fight scenes down due to how fast he can move so no idea what you're complaining about, unless you're just bitter.

Who said I watch Jackie Chan? When it comes to martial arts movies and me, it is Bruce Lee or go home. Yes, I do know Chan was in one or two of those movies.

You see, I do know how to look at a film. I've watched the films most films these days are based on, and listened to commentary by the directors of those semi-original sources. I have studied cinematography. I've taken acting classes, and have been both on stage and behind it. I do know what I'm complaining about, and complacent, poorly done martial arts in a poorly paced movie should be called out for what it is, in order to prevent other directors from following suit.
