[EVGA] Step-up your GTX 780 to 6GB Update: 6GB GTX 780 Ti cancelled. - Page 15

Titan was still a big risk. Not that the 28nm would had been surpassed any time soon but the price was suspected to fall.

In fact, sure enough the 780 that shortly followed was a better solution for anyone being money conscious/wanting to save money.

Even now a regular 780 is obviously the superior solution for anyone wanting to save money and still have performance.

But not *right* now though, the sea is too turbulent to even be sure about that.

Please let there be Hydro Copper version of both 6gb and 3gb still. Not sure yet which one I'm gonna get next month. At least hopefully the 3GB HC might come down a bit more.

Can anyone clarify if I'll be able to step up? I got my TIs in the first week of March. The new card will have 6gb of vram vs 3. Can i step up or does it have to be a whole new gpu?

U will only need 6GB of ram if you sli or tri sli. Only depending if you Like modding or 60 fps.IE cryisis @ 3840 '1440 45 to 60 fps . with 780 ti sli. 3gb
I came from 4gb sli 680s. nut did not have enough fps. Now with 780 ti sli, I lose my modding. IE massive texture's with good frames. Hope i help

People stop to complain about 6GB and how someone screw you because you bought 3GB.
This is not 2304 CUDA and tomorrow 2880 CUDA for same money. How many of you exactly saw 3GB bottleneck and where???
Tell me game, settings, resolution and then if you play, if you even think on such resolution I'm sure you can lose only 100-150$ selling GTX780Ti 3GB model and investment in 6GB model. How much of you is ready to pay card 1000-1100e??? If you need such card, and if you miss performance and if you think on so high resolution than for you losing 150-200e or dollars is nothing.
NVIDIA can earn more money if go in marketing with same model twice. They will pain in different color, they will give more memory, maybe after this they will finally figured out how 4GB and 512bit is better than 6GB and 384bit, maybe than they launch final premium version with I don't know how much memory on 512bit. That's well known and they will separate many variation of card to make that.

I hear one guy want to leave EVGA because they bought GTX780Ti 3GB and they launch 6GB. And talk how he will buy ASUS because he still don't have 6GB model...xexe xexe... Hey how far that gone...man. I understand when someone steal from you clear 25% performance on any resolution, in any games, but you complain about some things you didn't even saw. All gamers have 16GB RAM too.
They could play same with 6GB.
Maybe 50 people here really really need 6GB. Their setup cost 6000-7000$ without 4K monitor.
They need and 2-3 GK110 with 2880 CUDA absolutely same as 6GB even more. I will not upgrade monitor next 1-2 year 100%, and next monitor will be 2560x1440. That mean next 3-4 year I will not cross 3GB, I don't have to afford 6GB any way. I could look only GTX780Ti if they decide to go with 6GB immediately without 3GB version.
And believe me EVGA will not be same brand with 6GB models. EVGA is only brand where you have chance to get better card with more memory, or more speed, or more CUDA depend of model or series if you are qualified for step-up.... Other owners look how EVGA saved their customers and give them for free 600 CUDA more, 2 times unboxing, new card without payment after 3-4 months.
Where is ASUS, he collect money and don't care for such things, but he will sell 6GB for premium price too.

You will see Maxwell will come and you will buy Maxwell with 8GB and you will still look in 2-2.5GB on 2560x1440 resolution, remember my words only and look Memory usage.
WHO HAVE MONEY TO EVEN THINK ON 3GB BOTTLENECK HE HAVE AND MONEY TO AFFORD LOSE OF 150-200$ SELLING 3GB MODEL AND INVESTMENT IN 6GB. I'M NOT SUCH GUY. I WOULD LOVE 6GB FOR 3GB PRICE, BUT I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO AFFOR SETUP FOR 6GB AND I WOULD SAVE 200-300$ EVEN WITH TWO OPTION IN SAME TIME 3GB-6GB MODEL.

Do you mean the VRAM will have 6 GHz in opposite to the actually used 7 Ghz VRAM?
