If you want to have fun, get an external cooler as well from Arctic and try to get one that supports some higher clocking.

I'd probably get that if I had to get something now, but I'm waiting a few months since I don't care much about perf.

What ever im getting ill be getting two of them so...

I'm out of Step-up too. No matter, I'm giving the royal finger to this extra dead weight VRAM nonsense and buying a Classified to play with along side my other ref Tis biggrin.gif

I always thought it was the games themselves but it's not.

I can overclock my PB278Q to 90 before it gets wonky. It's a bit better but not much.

I've seen a few people OC my model to 85Hz,so I'll have to give it a shot later. That test posted early didn't seem consistent for me, either. I could change the screen size of it and it would run exponentially better. Maybe it's a problem with Chrome, though.

Was already considering purchasing a 780, when I upgrade to 1440p next month. Now for $20 more I can push an unsafe amount of Skyrim mods! Color me sold.thumb.gif

Ok, so let me get this straight. Since I didn't register my card within 14 days of purchasing it I will need to purchase the extended warranty and then sign up on this page and I will still be able to step up my 780 ti even after my 90 days runs out (in 5 days)?

EVGA makes no money on step-ups. We send them cards that can only be sold as used for brand new ones.

I'm stuck with 2 3gb cards as well. But I don't think newer games are going to be as silly with vram as Titanfall.

The vast majority of cards sold are in the $150 range and still only have 1.5-2.0 GB. Since they literally make up the market themselves, games will never get too far out of whack IMO.

Sucks if I'm wrong though. biggrin.gif

EVGA can definitely make money on step-ups if they set the price of the new card correctly, and the demand for the old one is still high. I suspect this policy deviation is an example.

Look also into enough VRAM in that case. Most people look into >3GB nowadays. That makes 290s more interesting in this case.

Though it's always more problematic to have 2, some microstuttering should exist, even if it was largely fixed last year.

And if you do single-GPU stuff (not in gaming), multi gpus are often wasted *but it's gaming unrelated.

Yep 3GB is the minimum I would go with now. I just wish the price of the AMD cards wasn't so over inflated...
