[EVGA] Step-up your GTX 780 to 6GB Update: 6GB GTX 780 Ti cancelled. - Page 49

When the card is released you will have the option to "step-down" if you wish or wait. Obviously this may not be recommended in all situations.

780 Ti 6GB is on the way, but no ETA and no confirmation IF it will be added to step-up just yet.
To clarify,

By registering my 780 TI on the current promotion page, the date I registered is locked in on stepping down to a 780? The date is not locked in on a potential step up to a 6gb TI model assuming it's added to the step up list?

If this is the case, I was misinformed. I was told that although he couldn't confirm the TI would be available, if the TI did become available, my date was locked and I would be in line to step.

Yes. Registering today only locks you in on a 780 Step-up.

If/when a 780 Ti 6GB Step-up is available, there will be separate page/promotion for that.

I'll buy a 780 3GB when the Ti 6GB step-up is ready then.

You'd be better off just outright buying a 6GB Ti when it launches. The step-up queue can be painfully slow at times.

When the GTX 780 was released it took ~3 months just to get through the first 100 spots in line (including people dropping out). I remember it well since I was #99 on day one. tongue.gif

It's two 780s coming from Amazon at a huge discount they have to honor.
So it's all about timing and stepping up at the right time. I'm saving money by waiting.

You'll have to pay the difference when you step up anyway. They make you submit a receipt and factor in any discounts/rebates as well. Either way you're paying full MSRP.

Ya, you are better off selling those 780s and buying the replacements new.

That doesn't make any sense.

I'm trying to get my head around this so when the 780ti version comes out can I swap my 780ti SC 3GB for a 6GB version? or only if it was bought with in 90 days before that 6gb version is available?
