That's not a valid reason for going for more VRAM, yet a sorry/poor excuse for lazy and sloppy coding.

That is such a clever and unique thing you said there, calling EA evil. The raw fact is, they are the only west coast software/tech related company in the fortune lists that doesn't participate in wage fixing (the current great evil in the industry) and they are the only game publisher in the USA who offers competitive wages and wage/benefit matching with those same said colluding companies like Google/Apple/etc. Not only that but it is the single most progressive and least discriminatory workplace to take part in in the entirety of the USA, as is shown by their multiple award reception for #1 company to work for in the LGBT community.

They also impose no restrictions on the creative process, unlike my tenure at Zenimax/Bethesda, other than financial and schedule. So in essence, you are so wrong it is painful. I'll also have you know Mantle would have never been possible without the close partnership between AMD and DICE over the last 8 years in the development of Frostbite. The primary goals of that engine project weren't to create a "game engine" but to bring developers closer to the metal of the GPU and lower the overhead between communication of the driver and engine. EA also helps fund two of the three best game engines on the market.

In fact I actually have a copy of the presentation between lead engineer at AMD and the software engineer lead of Frostbite at GDC one year, a closed event - detailing exactly that. I think from 2008.

EDIT: Just noticed I paid nearly $530 for my GTX 780 SC. That means that it would only be $20 for me to get the 6GB variant. I'm not sure I can say no to that. biggrin.gif

It will become pretty useful if you ever decide to SLI and play at a big resolution.

Lol, the only good thing that ever came of mining was me being able to profit on selling my 290 to buy a 780, although I do miss that card, lol.

Lol, I wanted to give mining a try, but it's already hot enough in Florida.

It's hot here in NC as well, but good god I don't ever want to go back to the heat I had to deal with in Orlando.

Is it really worth $200 more (in this individual's situation) for 3gb more ram? Not likely.

You almost completely avoided the whole point I made. But ok, I guess. Lazy and sloppy coding happens irregardless of time and finances. It happens when programmers get lazy and sloppy.

I'm glad you brought up mantle, though. Something that works in all of...2 games I believe? Something that isn't open source yet, like stated in the beginning?

I'm glad they appreciate their workers, though, because they surely don't feel the same about their customers.

Even if all algorthims worked faster 100% of the time (with more ram), this is an nVidia card, so you would still be cuda mining... so yeah...

Maxwell will the shizz...looking forward to getting quad 880s for my x79-ud3 tongue.gif
For now the only viable mining card is the gtx 750 ti 2gb, but it's a bit of a compromise for my dual purpose benching/gaming/mining rig at home. tongue.gif (I'd love it if it had sli capabilities lol)
