I don't think you read either post. Jacobs was regarding when the 780 6GB is hitting the market, the person you replied to is asking about when the 780 Ti will be available (HINT: It isn't at the same time).

The 780 6GB step up is already available for sign up on EVGA's website. Jacob is referring to when the sign up will begin for the 780 Ti 6GB step up.

I'm pretty sure he was giving an answer to those of us who have been bothering him incessantly about when the 780 Ti step up sign up will begin. Hopefully he can chime in and clarify.

Will nVidia even allow 6gb variants of the 780Ti? It seems like it would massively undercut the Titan Black making it essentially laughable in the lineup.

I really would love some firm info about this as I have been thinking about Titan Blacks lately, but would be royally pissed if 780TI 6gb came out for $800 a month or two later.

Thanks for the update Jacob. I'm keeping my hopes up to see a date within a month. My current GPUs are out of warranty and failing. I really want to buy 2 780 Ti 6GB models asap.

What Titan Black has 780 Ti will never have and that's DP.

I am aware of the DP capability of the Titans however that capability is not worth $300-$500 and the people this card is marketed toward are well aware that it does nothing for them in terms of gaming. The fact remains that if nVidia allows 780Ti 6GB's then they won't sell nearly as many Titan Black Editions, I myself and my current situation are a case-in-point. If there were 780Ti 6GB's I wouldn't even be thinking about the Titan Black.

With the 780 and 780Ti it was different because at that point I think the Titan had already been out for an entire year if not more and nVidia needed something to counter AMD's r9's. Plus the Titan still had a 3GB advantage over the 780/Ti in terms of VRAM so was more justifiable in that regard. Don't get me wrong I'd love for nVidia to allow 6GB 780Ti's but I also think it'd be kind of an odd move on their part at the same time.

Well I can only think of one thing that they've sold enough Titans and now they've to move on. But this thing will sell regardless, those who want DP will continue to buy this no matter what.

The real question here is why should you care? The only time anyone would ever care is in a buyers' remorse scenario. Some poor sap bought the Titan Black only to find out the 780Ti 6GB has better single precision compute (by a very small margin due to higher factory clocks) with the same amount of VRAM for 300 bucks less. Other than that, who really cares why this is happening? It is good for gamers!
