That would be madness. The leap from 780 to 780Ti is so significant it is crazy to consider dropping back down.

I pretty much agree with what Bitvar said -- I would go even further though and say that if you aren't going to use the 6GB framebuffer then don't bother upgrading at all. If there's a specific reason you think you will use beyond 3GB before upgrading again then it's worth it -- or if you are just like many of us and simply want the best GPU on the market wink.gif

If it's a stretch financially speaking and you really don't need the 6GB I would just stick with what you have and add another one for SLI down the road.

I personally think it will be incredibly important going forward, with most games on PC being sloppy ports of console counterparts where developers can lazily code with 3.5GB of potential VRAM to play with - but that is just me. I also don't want to game with compromise.

That said a 3GB 780Ti will always be better than a 780 6GB.

But if you can hold out for the 6GB 780Ti, go for it, it will certainly make Titan Black buyers feel butthurt (some of them) which is always entertaining. I don't know if I can hold out, so I might be one of those buttmad Titan Black owners soon enough.

One can't even step up from a 780ti to a 780 anyway so that argument is moot.

It's going to be a fair while before i step up to 4K so 3Gb is fine for me. In fact, the 900 series will be out before i go 4K. tongue.gif

I thought I could as it gave me the option.

Thanks, I'll get the new monitor next month and see if I need the new 6gb version, or maybe sli my current one smile.gif

Actually ya I remember Jacob saying there was an exception for this.

For single monitor 1440p you definitely don't need more than 3GB right now or in the very near future.

As for what the real future holds, unfortunately we don't have crystal balls so we have no idea when/if games will start requiring/benefiting from more than 3GB for single monitor 1080p/1440p/1600p.
