Not sure if I should upgrade my sealed 780 OC ACX to the 6GB OC version and then sell it or just sell off my current 780 for about $480. Upgrade cost is roughly $50.

I now see that the promotion has started on the step-up page.

The only thing that's stopping me from doing this is my main reason for getting my GTX 780 in the first place: The sexy Titan cooler.

Even though the GTX 780 6GB is technically an "upgrade", it would still feel like a downgrade unless I was able to retain my reference cooler.

And since eVGA does not offer their 6GB variant w/ reference cooler for the current step-up promotion, I'm going to have to pass on this one.

@EVGA-JacobF, if there is a way I can retain my reference cooler, I would love to step-up to a 6GB card. Otherwise, I'll keep my reference 780 SC.

Cards with more memory always perform slightly worse than the same card with less memory in situations where memory isn't the bottleneck. Doesn't matter if it's the 760, 770, or 780, there will always be a minor performance loss when you increase the frame buffer.

*EDITED* I was wrong, you have to purchase the extended warranty simply to step-up. I thought it extended the step-up time that you could use. My apologies.

Also, I think it is funny that a lot of people are say, "where is the Ti 6gb?" Did Nvidia release the 780 Ti 3gb at the same time as the 780 3 gb? No, that is terrible move.. they space them out for the reason of profit, because some idiot will undoubtedly switch from the Ti to the 780 6gb since there is no hope of getting the 6gb TI.. and 3 week to a month from now, at most, they will announce "Oh yeah, the Ti is coming with 6 Gb as well.. and said idiot WILL get the Ti 6gb as well.. They aren't stupid, they are playing the customers with deep pockets or unlimited credit.

I mean, seriously, you can't even buy the 6gb 780 yet.. why the hell would they drop the TI and cause people to buy it instead?

Note, this is not a personal attack on anyone, but I am seeing a lot of whining,Like NVidia hasn't been playing their customers the entire time, and raping them for every refurbished penny they can. I just quoted the last person I was able to see mentioning it.

Because people have different budgets, and this isn't Nvidia releasing a 6GB 780 Ti, it is EVGA. There aren't any nvidia references, just the time has expired on allowing 3rd party manufacturers to go nuts with reference design. Now they are allowed to increase VRAM density. Outside of a few extreme cases the people who are in the market for a 780 aren't the same as the ones in the market for 780 Ti, because of the fairly large price gap (for most people, not us). The more price gaps you fill, the more customers you can serve, it is only logical.
