Whenever I set fan controlller to 5v three fans stop. They work on 7v and 12v.... What's the cause?

I'm not familiar with the fan control on that case, does the slider "snap" into each voltage setting or does it freely slide around?

If it freely slides, I'd try pushing it farther ahead or behind the 5v marking, and see if the fans get power

They spin for sume time on 5v (sometimes a minute , sometimes 15) but eventually they stop.

Assuming the fan controller is really putting out 5V (measure it), those particular fans need more than 5V to spin or the combination of multiple fans on one channel or total number of fans on the controller is too much for the controller to send 5V evenly to.

EDIT: Check the fans power Amp rating which is usually on the back of the fan on a sticker to calculate the maximum power consumption. Then find the maximum power output of the fan controller and see if there's a problem.

What don't you understand? Just because they spin a little doesn't mean that they have enough power to keep spinning. The moment they encounter the slightest increase in resistance they stop. Increasing the voltage and they have enough power to overcome the resistance and keep spinning.

So, it's the fault of fans ?

Check that your PSU is supplying 12v to controller. If it is I suggest you contact Fractal Design customer support and ask them. They supply both the 3 position controller and fans so hopefully they have the answer.

+1, at least here in the US they are very responsive and helped me out on a couple of occasions. I have the same case and don't have this problem at all. Except during warm summer months when the ambient in house temperature gets high I always run the fans at 5V. If the switch is somehow problematic Fractal will get a new one to you.
