Hi there,

So I've been on a quest to buy a GTX680.
I bought one, never received it - made a claim.
Then found another one, ordered it, received it today and straight away it didn't run benches.
The one I have received is the KFA2 GTX680 - here's the GPUZ of it: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I have my OWN GTX680 - (I want to SLI them, but haven't even touched SLI yet, simply because I want to test the "new" card) - here's its GPUZ:
MSI GTX680: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Anyway - so far here's what happens:
GPU when plugged in, (straight swap for the MSI) - the GPU wasn't recognised. Windows 7 installed its own drivers. I then rebooted and then the screen was 1080P and it was correct looking. However when I went to do benches, it crashed immediately. Heck not even benching - just opening valley or valley it crashes!

So then I went and re-installed the drivers (clean install).
Still the same problem persists.
Note: Temps don't exceed 40c - just gives you an idea as to how little load it gets and simply crashes the benchmark.

I want to know what's going on.
The seller assured me it was working beforehand, however it just isn't working properly on my PC - I highly highly doubt it has anything to do with my setup.
Oh and as an FYI: the GPU is plugged in via 2x 8pin to the PSU.

My guess is that it was "shorted" or something went wrong during transit.
Possibly the worst packaging I've seen - by that I mean, the guy put it in a box, and put the GPU (without ANY anti static bag) within a bubble wrap.

What's your thoughts? and suggestions?
Help will be appreciated thumb.gif

oh boy.. plastic wrap generates static electricity like its its job.. combine that with all the vibrations from shipping, I hate to say it but I think you found your problem..

I would call the seller and tell him u want ur money back.. he messed up bigtime. if he doesn't report him/ give the worst review possible.

not even my money and that made me mad..lol

also.. if theres any hope its still viable.. try a different pci-e port

Yup what can I say....
Curious though - the card works, but not when pushed lol.
If the card was completely fried - surely it wouldn't run at all?

As for the PCIE slot - well I could give that a try, but that's my primary one on the Sabertooth Z77 - again the MSI works perfectly.

not always.. mosfets are very sensitive to shock, it damages the thin silica layer inside, litteraly puts a hole in it, the v regs/ and the gpu itself consists of mosfets. damaging only a few, maybe even just one will still aloaw the unit to power up and run, as load is increased the damaged/missing mosfets are felt more heavily

can i ask that you take a detailed picture of the card and then we can look deeper, but from what you had said, i bought a card that did the same things as you described and as it was not even able to play a game i sent it back, this was one of the member on the forum... i don't buy from him if he ever sells on here again.

I bought it via gumtree -I'm covered via paypal - just the point of me waiting again for my money and then buying ANOTHER GTX680.
Literally now I would have over £500 with paypal on 3 seperate claims.
1x GTX680 that never arrived and seller ignored my calls etc after the sale
1x QNIX monitor that got sent from Korea and was not as described from the listing (since the seller has removed the listing all together as they know they're in trouble)
1x GTX680 that arrived, but doesn't work!

I'll do what you requested right now.
