Best Nvidia GPU for 520W PSU

I am getting a 520W PSU for a HTPC build I'm doing. I want to use it Kind of like an XBOne, so I plan on connecting a controller to it and playing games. Needless to say I want a decent GPU to produce graphics AT LEAST as good as an XBOne. A few google searches make claims that an XBOne performs between a GTX 750 and GTX 760, so that where I'm looking. Nvidia's Site shows that I CAN do a build with a GTX 760 on a 500W PSU, but the Site shows I CAN NOT do it with a GTX 770. Im wondering If I would be able to push this requirement or not.

So I guess my root question is.. Do the Power requirements take a safety factor into consideration that I can push, or are they a hard fact that I should hold to?

And also... Is the total Wattage number of a PSU the Maximum number the PSU can produce, or does this take a safety factor into consideration?

I come from an Architectural background, so numbers that we use for structural purposes are sometimes multiplied by a safety factor up to .6, so if we assume the same safety factors, my PSU COULD put out a total of 850W and the GTX 770 COULD only take a 360W PSU.

I dont think they would use that large of a safety factor sinch building structure could kill people if if fails, and a PSU/ GPU only piss people if it fails, but I would assume there has to be SOME safety factory I could push the limits of...

Plus if I get the GTX 770 and it overloads the PSU, I could just underclock it and WORST CASE I just wasted $100, and everything is back to normal.

Any Advice?

If it's a quality 520w unit, then you have plenty of wattage for this style of build.

I'm very intrigued by this SeaSonic SS-520FL2 PSU. Never used SeaSonic before, but I have heard good things about them. And since I am trying to do a silent/ extremely quiet build, I thought I would try this fanless design. Cant beat a 7 year warranty right? :-p

A 780TI will run on that PSU.

I have looked at some sites similar to the link you included who evaluate component, and that one seems to document the lowest power cunsumption out of them all. But even if they are off by 100W, that still makes it safe to get the GTX 770 without fear that plugging in a USB willl overload the system.

Next question I guess is assuming I do get the GTX 770, what kind of graphics should I expect? Can it play everything that is out right now on the highest settings (I understand that's a HUGE generalization)? Or would I have to tweak all the setting on a game by game situation to make it perform optimally?

Whcih resolution?

Btw a 770gtx should be able to do ultra graphics settings at 1920x1080,maybe lower a bit AA,on higher resolution on gpu demandinf you would need more than 2gb or lower graphics settings

Maybe only except for couple games like BF4, you can max out @1080p with 770 with most of the games
