Zalman 850w with Xfire 7970s

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I'm putting in another 7970 to go Crossfire. My current rig details should be in my sig. I just wanted to confirm my suspicions retaining this PSU will put me on the 'ragged edge' of capacity.

Using a basic plug mounted power measurement, with Furmark and Prime95 suggests 550w. Running just Prime95 suggests 250w. So obviously my current 7970 (overclocked with 1.19v) is using around 300w. Add another 7970 at similar spec and volia 850w. This is of course Furmark and 'real world' would be somewhat lower.

I'll also be adding a new XSPC rad RX560 and 4 more 140's... so another ~20watts there.

The obvious answer is just get a new PSU but just wanted to sanity check if this is absolutely required. PSU specifications are here:

Any strong views either way? Many thanks thumb.gif

You dont need more wattage for two 7970 cards unless you are going to overvolt them
