cant sli

i7 3820
16gb rip jaws
2x gtx 470
MSI x79A-GD45(8D)

so i recently got a new mobo(the above one) and i cant use SLI now with it(i used to have the MSI mini mobo and it worked fine(given there was a dead ram channel, why i upgraded)
so problem is i cant get SLI in the NVIDIA control panel, like it isnt even showing up. Also we were having boot issues so we hook monitor to 2nd card vs first one and now the computer thinks the 2nd card is the 1st card and the 1st card the 2nd, both cards do work, as ive plugged the monitor in both cards and they both work. i have them plugged into 2nd slot and 4th slot(2nd and 3rd x16 slot)

I had the same issue when I switched to a Z87- G45 mobo with my SLI. Granted it's not the same but it never hurts to try the basics. My solution was just to uninstall all drivers and video cards from device manager. I did a complete clean re-install and the SLI option re-appeared in Nvidia Control center. Sometimes if you swap a MOBO out even if you had sli before then Windows gets really confused.

went in uninstalled all the drivers from device manager and reinstalled, shut down and hooked the monitors to gcard 1 and still see'ing gcard 2 as number one.
since the gcards are "backwards" do i need to reverse the sli bridge?

I don't think so. I had 780 sli and the same thing happened with them being reversed.

Also sometimes you need to install the NVidia drivers in safe mode.

3 PCI Express gen3 x16 slots
- PCI_E1 & PCI_E4 support up to PCIE x16 speed
- PCI_E6 supports up to PCIE x8 speed
• 2 PCI Express gen2 x16 slots
- PCI_E2 & PCI_E5 support up to PCIE 2.0 x1 speed
• 1 PCIE 2.0 x1 slot

i found that on their website

http://us.msi.com/product/mb/X79AGD45_8D.html#/?div=Detail
