when cod ghosts was announced, i was excited. its crappy for PC, no one plays, the players that do play make the game not enjoyable.

BF4, again, doesnt appeal to me. mass warlike fighting game with people on 1 side staying in their zone.

titan fall. seems like a mass rampage game.

WD, exciting concept. but im still doubtful the game will be those games where it'll be fun in the long run

diable 3, gets boring to quick. nothing to do after you beat the game.

MMO's, to many need to be paid / subscribed. i dont think it'll be worth it if it doesnt last me a good long time.

LoL, fun, but got boring for me. no big incentive that keeps me playing, just stressful

sc2, same as LoL

i would buy some console, but i dont think its worth having to pay to play online every month, and buying another console

what do you guys think?

what do you guys play?

I agree completely. I literally don't even buy games from mainstream publishers anymore. The only game I play now is Arma, which is a PC-only game from an relatively independent publisher, and the only games I'm looking forward to are crowd-funded games.

IMO large publishers and a shift in thinking about how to make games has significantly reduced the quality of games ... since about 2007 or earlier ... back then we still got good, boundary-pushing PC games, even from big publishers like EA (e.g., Crysis, Battlefield 2, etc.)

My 2nd favorite genre of game is pretty much non existent as it was.(JRPG)
My first favorite its now plagued with godawful F2P cash crop games.(MMORPG)
I've been playing moba's for 2+years now, and I feel like its only a matter of time before F2P moba trash flood the market, and DoTA2's quality killed LoL for me.

I feel like a lot of games are cheap but there's a few becons of hope...

only to be ruined or screwed up by self richious, selfish, obsessively selfcentered players who demand and treat things as to developers shoudl cater to their every whim or "your game blows ass"

The gaming industry is trying to do everything to feed off gamers and I sorely and desperately miss the days of the PS2 and N64 when games were completed in a timely manner and developed relatively bugfree and focused upon playable quality and artistic design, rather than making a publisher money.

I miss the days of Xenosaga and Pre Final Fantasy 13 and earlier jRPGs. instead of the half bugged Patch needed online requiring junk that gets spewed out.
I miss when MMORPGs were designed with strong and difficult PVE, instead of garbage easy leveling and "PVP" "max level fast!" artificial crap.
I'm tired of fast kill Ironsights military shooter games, I want more fantasy and less realism in shooters again where you had to aim and follow your target to kill them, not just point and click, Unreal Tournament 2003 I miss you.

The gaming community is so bigheaded, disrespectful and entitled and falls for every marketing ploy that tries to reach into their pockets and take every dollar they can.
They throw money at the screen for garbage and never learn, and publishers take advantage of them at every turn.

Gaming feels nothing like it used to be.

I'm currently playing DoTA2 and Titanfall waiting for WildStar to come out.
WildStar is my last hope that MMORPGs will ever come back to their roots. The game is promising but i feel the garbage gamer population is going to ruin it for us oldschool players who desperately want to go back to 2004~2011 before MMORPG became a flooded mess of F2P bildge.

TERA is the last good free MMORPG, and WildStar will be the last good P2P MMORPG, and after that there will no longer be any good MMOs. WoW has ruined itself, FPS are obsessed with ironsights shooting and realism. jRPGs are almost extinct, and the gaming community consists of sexist, entitled jerks who can't seem to tell a scam from a legitimate purchase.

It really stood out with Call of Duty 4, being the first game in the series focused primarily on casual multiplayer and only having a lower quality 4 hour campaign. Games have been copying this model since then. I don't see the industry turn around any time soon, casual clones like most of the games you listed still sell the best for the most part. As games keep getting dumbed down and designed for children and people with no intellect, I keep getting less interested just like you.

I prefer to spend my time playing Dragon Age: Origins (2009), the Mass Effect series (2007, 2010, 2012), Skyrim (2011), Oblivion (2006), Morrowind (2002), Fallout: New Vegas (2010), Fallout 3 (2008), Deus Ex: Human Revolution (2011), S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl (2007), S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat (2010), KOTOR games (2003-2004), Neverwinter Nights series (2002, 2006), Metro series (2010, 2013), Dishonored (2012), Amnesia: The Dark Descent (2010), Penumbra series (2007-2008), Thief Gold (1998), Thief II: The Metal Age (2000), Underhell. When it comes to multiplayer I prefer ArmA 3 (2013), PAYDAY 2 (2013), Natural Selection 2 (2012), with a bit of No More Room in Hell (2013), Rising Storm (2013), Killing Floor (2009), and Serious Sam HD (2009-2010) mixed in. So a good mix of games from the past and present.
Download the ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead demo on Steam. That's a series that was really focused on innovation, unlike most of the other crap coming out these days (such as many of the titles in your first post). Just beware there's not much of a future for that series either.

Man you seriously just described myself almost to a T. So weird. With that said I just have never been able to get into the Stalker games. I have no idea why. They appeal to just about everything I like in games but I just can't do it. One reason I think is the head bob is just so strong, literally makes me sick.

There are mods that lower/remove headbob. Perhaps another reason is this: Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat lack a gripping introduction beyond the opening cutscene. They just plop you into the game world and basically say "here, do stuff" which can be hard to get into.

Whats a good game that involves professions in game? that you can level up skills and such, and theres PvP, PvE, etc etc.

avoiding games where you have to constantly keep paying monthly. i hate games that takes that approach, like WoW.

EDIT: also, it seems like the general census is that everquest was a fun game and "crack cocaine to the gaming community"

if people feels like this about everquest, why did people stop? did something happen to the game? (never played everquest in my life)

Trying playing Single-player games. Dark Souls and Bioshock Infinite comes to mind. MP games makes me irritating, so I try to go and play something for myself.

Pretty much this. Though I don't second those specific recommendations, it sounds like you need a breath of fresh air and something substantially different.

One man's treasure is another man's poison. Can't stand jRPG's, with rare exceptions. I loved classics like Chrono Trigger, for example.
