[Pando] Extent of Google/Apple's Wage & Job Fixing "Cartel" Exposed - Page 3

Given the highly political nature of corporations in America, things as this don't surprise me. However, what is right and what is wrong? Two execs sitting together saying "hey can you do us a favor and not send recruiters to cold call our employees," seems reasonable.

I don't think this has as much to do with corporations, as it has to do with these same corporate officers getting annoyed at aggressive unsolicited recruiting.

This.

And also, collusion never works in the long run. Too many variables to keep track of. There is incentive for a company to break the terms of collusion and hire for more than the others are in order to get higher quality workers.

Just look at OPEC's history to see what collusion eventually ends up as. A bunch of embarrassment and backstabbing.

Would this apply to Co-op? I live near AMD's headquarter in Canada, and I'm thinking of applying for a co-op. Ultimately I want to work for intel or nVidia though.

No issue there....

The market in the Silicon Valley area is that there is very high fluidity of top-tier employees. The companies were trying to (illegally) stop the movement of workers.

So nobody wants to work at Microsoft, yahoo.

I wonder how do the intel, AMD, and nVidia fit into the picture.

Plenty of people want to work for Microsoft. This just shows the flows of employees (mostly around California).

Intel/AMD/NVIDIA are mostly hardware companies. Their competition are more Qualcomm, Broadcomm, TI, and other ARM companies.

Simple. Publicly traded companies need to die. This bow down and do everything for the sake of the shareholder needs to stop.

What is wrong with a healthy profit? Simple, never ending greed.

That's silly. If there no publicly traded companies....
1) raising capital gets much harder
2) regulation and reporting gets weaker
3) investing becomes accessible to only the rich and very well informed.

Profit != greed... duh.

Before anyone goes and blames free market Capitalism I would suggest you watch this video. It's a little dated and speaks briefly to the housing crash, but otherwise a solid video.

Not to mention Duckie, as you implied, the impossibility for the middle class to invest for retirement, invest for their own enrichment and a super escalation of prices due to the fact nobody can really mass produce anything anymore.

What are they teaching now days? Every system that has human involvement, from Free Market Capitalism to Communism has greed. Pure and simple. It's human nature! If anyone in this forum tries to deny that, they're lying to themselves; We all want. When we get, We want more. If you're not living in a tree house in Oregon, growing your own food and wearing your homemade clothes and don't work for money, never asked for a raise in your life and don't try to gather more 'whatever' for you and yours, then STHU!
