[LR] Hands On With Devil’s Canyon – Intel Haswell Refresh - Page 3

Lets see some overclocking and temperature numbers, i dong care about this never ending lip service by Intel. Also, not supporting Z87 would lead to far less sales. A dumb move for Intel.

Not only that, but all these cpu's are at 3ghz, which just so happens to be very close to what most of the intel's run at stock frequencies, meanwhile for an FX platform that is quite a drop in clocks on an architecture that only seems to perform decently at 4ghz+..

If this pen was unlocked would it beat fx6300 at gaming?

http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/239/AMD_FX-Series_FX-6300_vs_Intel_Pentium_Dual-Core_G3420.html

I know we are speculating but it's 43% more single core and within 1% of graphical applications. I think $60 pentiums might take over the budget gaming segment.

The one bad bit of information is that it appears that Devil’s Canyon will only be supported by the Intel 9-series motherboards.
And with that, I lost all interest.

agreed that it would lead to more sales. I would for sure spend the $3-400 on the best i7 if it were compatible on Z87. I will most likely hang with my current CPU and NOT buy Z97 + refreshed CPU. Oh well, it is what it is and the current Z87 setups will be good for years to come and then just wait to spend money on a DDR4 upgrade later on. Skylake or later.

I suppose I am excited to see what Maxwell can do for me on the GPU side of the game.

I totally saw this coming and dont have a problem with it. Intel motherboards are cheap

Cheap?! I paid $330 for my Maximus VI Formula, it's still $300 at New Egg, yet i can get a 4770k from MC for $250.

From all the Haswell overclocking reading I've done, It seems to me the real cheap crap Intel is selling is at least 50% of the 4670/4770k models.

Devils Canyon is a addmition by Intel that Haswell rev 1 really is HasFail

Screw Intel

You don't need a $300 mobo for OC. All you need is a used $100 Gigabyte.
