Best mods for FO3? - Page 3

Someone asked me to post my Fallout New Vegas mods and a few screens... Because FNV and Fo3 use the same engine I use the same texture packs and mesh replacers for both games.
With this many mods custom patches using FNVEdit are needed. Book of Earache is not available on the Nexus but can be found in other places. Everything else here that is not custom made was DLed there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have a 290 in your rig? That should be plenty, I'm running triple monitors on a single 290 and I can run fully enabled ENB with about 35-50 FPS in the Wasteland and 60 indoors.

@camo: I share your frustration with Nexus users... IMO most of them are very simple minded, if they can't have a program install the mod for them they can't be bothered to read and figure it out, then complain at you that their game broke because of you. That's why I typically don't upload anything except pictures to the Nexus.

Also why I tweak my game to my preferences, I don't care what anybody else thinks because it's the way I like it. I encourage you to do the same, I like your preset.
You said you're looking for feedback however, I suggest you give URWL a shot on ModdDb by Marcurios. It might make your weathers look a bit off at first, but if you tweak your ENB preset to match them it will look good. Marcurios did a fantastic job, imo no weather system is as good as his in either Fallout game. Plus the weather control hotkeys are nice.

I have xfire 290x's. I feel like the game kind of runs choppy to even at high fps and im not sure why... I'm @ 1440p btw.

Also I don't think xfire really works in fallout 3. I get crappy gpu utilization on both cards. Maybe i'm missing some setting or something? rolleyes.gif


now that I think about it, I get as low as 50 fps my self some times mad.gif

Maybe it's the beta drivers that suck? I could always go back to 13.12 since I'm not using mantle for anything now.

Probably a combo of Fallout's crappy engine with a lack of the necessary ini tweaking. I use various tweaks to increase memory size, a 3GB patch, antistutter FOSE DLL's and so on and I still get spots where I'm limited by Gamebryo..

I have the 3gb enabled patch, and I have some of those settings in the ini that limit it to 2 hw threads to reduce crashes. What settings you running.

Get Fallout stutter remover and install it along with FOSE. If you run ENB make sure you use ENBHost (included with the newer binaries), it actually helps with VRAM allocation greatly. If you use ENB turn off the games (and your driver's) AA and anisotropic filtering. Also make sure water displacement is off.

No problem, but even with all these tweaks you're gonna get inevitable stuttering, pauses and crashes. As much as I love Fallout, it's just one of the downsides of playing a game that uses an engine created in 1997.
