Hello OCN,

I have been tinkering heavily with my new ultra-budget upgrade.

http://openbenchmarking.org/result/1403224-PL-1403206PL22

Ran a lot of benchmarks. the results are "interesting" I suppose. But not as telling as I would have hoped. Obviously, the system responds to clock speed changes wonderfully. Beyond that, well, there are some interesting anomalies but otherwise pretty pointless.

The Defaults 3.5grbo, 200/2000/2400/1600-9-9-9 run is with everything set to "defaults." The memory in this system has a standard "profile" of 1600-9-9-9 etc.

The remainder of the results were all performed at 5ghz. The other "numbers" are BCLK/NB/HT/RAM speeds in MHZ/MHZ/MHZ/MT's-timings

5GHZ, 250/2750/2000/2000-9-11-11 tests showed a strange anomaly. I realized the mistake and ran it a second time. The "first" result is with the GPU acting as the bottleneck in idle mode (accidental). There also seem to be some anomalies in the encryption benches, which point to a "ratio" between the BCLK and CPU clock as a sort of limiter that is not normally in play.

Overall trending points to 1600-7-8-8-1T being better than higher speeds with looser timings for compute intensive workloads. The "bandwidth" advantages don't seem to translate to much usefulness in real world workloads. That being said, I think that any speed/timing configuration that results in the best possible latency would probably result in the best results here. In my case, I managed that at 1600 speeds, likely because that is the highest speed I can manage 1T command rate.

In each test case, the RAM speeds/timings are held to a similar "ratio" and that proved to be near the limits of stability in each case anyway. There are lots of secondary timings in play here that are set manually as well, but the end result is the same.

I was very surprised by the results of the "final" test there where the NB and HT link were synchronized at 2750MHZ. Seems like everything fell apart.
