Wonder if this unreleased driver is compatible with Fermi based GPU or not smile.gif

EDIT:

The objecive is to optimize DX11 usage, not create a new API like AMD. So it will be available for DX11 cards.

That Star swarm before shot is a lie it isn't even 20% of the perf of Mantle irl. Nvidia just took the most non cpu boudn scenario then the exaggerated enormously making themselves look better.

I'd like to see how they are going to solve the cpu bottleneck with an API that fails to do that. Yeah nice try.

oh come on now @maarten12100 we know both companies do those types of things all the time. Like 58% performance increase with 3930k & 2x 290x?

Iv'e also seen some really amazing benchmarks come out of Star Swarm, when comparing DX11 to Mantle.

It's funny how this thread about DX improvement is so similar to Mantle thread(s), where depending which GPU you own your view is it's total BS and lies or excellent news.

My 2cents, they could not sit back and wait for DX12. Sure they could release it, even on Win7 but there are no games out or coming out anytime soon that would actually use it. Mantle supported games are coming out, they'd be left in the dust. So they do what they can with DX11 and if the improvements reflect in the real world then that's great.

Well, Mantle, as of right now is Windows only. So expecting announcements this early on for Linux is out of the question IMO.

Once Mantle gets made available to Linux as well (it will happen), that's when we're going to see a couple of games being ported, etc etc (maybe some by DICE?).

Yeah, I knew buying new Intel hardware would help me out quite a bit, too bad I don't have that kind of money.

But yeah, thanks for reminding me that SC2 is a DX9 game lol

Worst benchmark and graphing I've ever seen. Trying to read it hurts my brain because it's so messy and contains only theoretical. Microsoft isn't going to allow only DX12 to improve only NVidia. Microsoft has money invested in AMD with it's APU technology, we're going to see improvements on that level too. So get your notebooks ready! They're going to bleed performance under DX12.

Agreed, it makes for a great popcorn thread (yes I get the irony with your avatar smile.gif). It's still exciting news even if it is embellished on both sides (embellishment - what else is new rolleyes.gif)

Based on that graph GTX780 Ti DX11 is about as fast a 290X Mantle in Star Swarm. Is that true? I have seen people get huge improvements in AMD side but Nvidia fixed it with just some DX11 API hack?

The driver they are using is not released yet so we don't have any confirmation from real users to go by.
