Drivers for XFX Radeon HD 7970 causing crash

Hi!

I've just put together my new computer with the XFX Radeon HD 7970.

Model number on GPU: FX-797G-TDFC

My parts:

Gigabyte GA-Z87-DS3H Rev: 1.1
XFX Radeon HD 7970
Intel Core i7 4770K (Stock cooler)
Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl
Silver Power 650W PSU

Without the GPU drivers, the computer works. But when I install the drivers and reboot, the computer freezes and sometimes bluescreen after i've logged on and used it for a few seconds.

what could be the cause?

I've connected the 8 pin and 6 pin power cables (two separate) and checked that it's seated correctly. I'm using HDMI to the GPU now.

EDIT:
Should I disable "intel Processor Graphics" in the UEFI DualBIOS?

Please, please, please help me - really need help fast!smile.gif

Thanks a lot!
Kind Regards,
Erik

Disable the IGP if you're not going to use it and uninstall the old graphics drivers from your OS if you have them installed. I assume you're using Windows 7?

I'm running Windows 7 Pro yes, installed this driver now: http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/RC11Driver.aspx

But it's flickering in the screen. Not failing though

use this . . . 13.12. The one that is 203MB.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows 7 - 64

1. Download it to desktop.
2. Run it and choose Uninstall>Express. Yes, use the driver itself to uninstall the current driver.
3. Reboot, then Run the 13.12 again but this time - Install it. Use express.
4. Reboot and test.

Edit: It might include raptr. you can prevent it from starting up along with CCC by disabling them in msconfig>startup>uncheck CCC and raptr(if included).
