Should i go ahead with a new build or wait?

Thread Starter
I'm waiting for the 880 to drop, but not sure if I should wait for the new Haswell to drop also. I want to do a new build what do you guys think. My current budget right now is $1300. I have the PSU, and case already. It's just I'm kind of inpatient when it comes to new builds lol. I will be using it for gaming. Any recommendations for a new build are welcome. Thanks for the time.

nest gen is gonna be big news I would wait.. plus next gen is DDR4 and basically all current technology is EoL
post #3 of 16
Why maxwell over pirate islands?

And if I were I would hold for skylake or in 2016 for lower costs in x99 and ddr4
post #4 of 16
off the top of your head, what would you get if you were to upgrade? and what do you use your computer for on a weekly basis?

looking at your sig rigs, you would probably benefit more from higher end peripherals rather than a new rig.

you could also tryout an ITX build seeing as you only have one gfx card

The new rig would be used for gaming. I have to do new rig or else I would have to share with my son. Easier just for me to build a new one. As far as higher end peripherals what do u recommend. On my 2nd build I no longer have the 580 it has a 680. If I were to go with a current gpu would u recommend sli 780 or a 780ti. I wont be running at 4k until I get a new monitor. As far as amd goes ive had to many issues with drivers in the past. I have to have a new build by may of this year. I should have mentioned that earlier. Thanks again

If you really do plan on going 4k soon, EVGA is going to release a GTX 780 model with 6 gb of ram very soon. A pair of those in SLI should be good for awhile.

For 4k without extreme mods of graphics and not very high level of AA 3gb shoyld just ok,wont bring any futureproof but will be fine for a year and a half.

Your cpu is still good if you are going for sli/crossfire a core i7 should help(an i7 2600k/3770k used these days costs 180-200usd)

So you plan on doing a entire new build then should be like this should be ok

The rig will be used mainly for gaming should I go with an i5 and save $100 to use for something else or go with the i7? Thanks
