If you can tack on ~10 bucks I'd say grab a Thermalright True Spirit 140: https://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=FAN-TS140P

XBit Labs Review: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/xigmatek-prime-thermalright-true-spirit-140_7.html

^It can hang with the big boys like the Archon for 1/2 the price. biggrin.gif

By the time he gets another fan to bring the performance up to the havik, it wouldn't be worth it imo because he could always add a second fan to the t-40

I have yet to see a cooler comparison done right. With today's modern climate control systems you would think a dedicated review site would test all coolers at the same ambient temp. Instead they take a measurement and deduct the difference, noting the temperature rise. That's just useless, because ambient temparature effect is not linear.

Anyone else notice how much more polished the True Spirit 140 Power is?

Unlike the True 120M and Macho 120 it has a backplate too:

The True Spirit 140 "Power" is without a doubt the top model of the Thermalright "Value" series.

True to their motto “innovated – not imitated” Thermalright not only visually revised the heat sink for the recent version. The “Power” now comes with six 8 mm thick heatpipes (previously 6 mm). Thus, the performance of the True Spirit 140 could be further improved.
http://www.thermalright.de/en/cooler/34/true-spirit-140-power

Six 8mm heatpipes, that's Phanteks dual tower level...

True Spirit 140 Power = 880g
True Spirit 140 = 605g

--> +45% more metal

True Spirit 140 Power's 8mm pipes hve 33% more heat surface area than True Spirit 6mm pipes. That's the same total area as HR-22, Archon SB-E, Silver Arrow SB-E and IB-E.
Very Impressive

Thanks AlphaC.thumb.gif

Wow, really? Well that makes me feel even better about ordering one!

What's the point of the Archon anymore?

Will the True Spirit 140 Power perform better for the money than an enermax T-40?
