Unlike the True 120M and Macho 120 it has a backplate too:

Six 8mm heatpipes, that's Phanteks dual tower level...

True Spirit 140 Power = 880g
True Spirit 140 = 605g

--> +45% more metal
Will the True Spirit 140 Power perform better for the money than an enermax T-40?
Phanteks is 5x 8mm pipes.

Of course the TS140 Power will perform better than T40. Standard TS140 is as good or better.. and it's 6x 6mm pipes.

True Spirit 140 cools better at 800rpm than Enermax ETS-40-VD does at 1840rpm in this review rolleyes.gif

Do you guys know of anything around the same price and performance as the True Spirit? Everywhere i can get a True Spirit i have to pay like $10 for slow shipping.

If you can wait it out a bit it might get cheaper , Superbiiz usually discounts things after a month or two of launch

Well we don't know how much surface area it has , but it should be better than NH-U14S (I don't think improved wicking material or notches for flow control would help it THAT much) or Archon , no?

The only way I could see it performing more than a degree or two worse is if the soldering of fins or the heatpipe contact with base sucks. At lower RPMs the added amount of fins over the Archon could be a problem though due to increased restriction.

I count 46 fins instead of the 50 on the original True Spirit 140 though

this. 100x this. that is why i only consider a heatsink if its better by a delta of say, 8-10c than my current one, just to make sure the diff is significant. i want to see a proper heatsink roundup.

@ AlphaC
I agree.
Total pipe surface area of Muscle is about same or more than others. Fin / radiator area is down from twin towers but not sure how much that will affect cooling. Good fin contact to pipes could easily make up for less total fin area. NH-U14S does very well against twin towers. wink.gif

@ Spade & Redwoodz
I believe the biggest reasons review / test have such varied results is because the are using room ambient not the temperature of air going into cooler.. and different cooler has different airflow characteristics resulting in more or less of their heated exhaust mixing with room temperature air coming into case and changing the cooler intake air temp.

A normal Silver Arrow SB-E with 1300rpm fans and Silver Arrow SB-E Extreme with 2500rpm fans gives very similar (same) results up to 1300rpm, but Extreme fans will move much more (almost twice as much) air resulting in 6-8c better CPU temps in open bench testing.. But in a case the 2500rpm fans are not matched with similar airflow through case.. end result is case air heats up and air supplying cooler intake is much hotter.. End result is 2-3c better CPU temps.

Second major reason is how much heat CPU is putting out... 150w, 180w, 230w, 270w, .. different heat means coolers give very different CPU temp readings.

The TS140 power looks very interesting, the original TS140 being a great and cheat product for the performance it delivers. IMO its only downside is the height (170mm).
