Fractal Design R4 (Windowed) - Case Cooling & H100i

Thread Starter
Hi all, I'm new to the forum smile.gif

I'm looking for advice on case cooling in my new gaming build. It's still in progress, some parts have been delayed typically! (I'll be sure to post pictures/make a build thread!)

Build
CPU: i5 4670k
Cooler: Corsair H100i
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero C2
Graphics: Asus R9 280X DirectCU II TOP
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x4GB 1866MHz
PSU: XFX 750W XXX Edition
Storage(SSD): 120GB Samsung 840 EVO
(--already got hard drives, dvd/blu-ray etc)

As you'll gather, my question is regarding case cooling and the H100i.

I have the windowed Define R4, so can someone explain the 'optimal' case fan cooling set up? I was thinking 3 intake and 3 exhaust. (setup, possibly, in 2 ways)
All case and H100i fans will be Corsair SP120 (Quiet)

Ideally, I want the PC to be quiet, but also want the most effective cooling I can get.

These are my ideas...

Option1:
Mount the H100i at the top, have the 2 fans as exhausts
Rear exhaust
Bottom fan as intake
Two front as intake

This one, in my head (lol), makes the most sense. Heat rises and this setup would work well with that? I'd like to put a dust filter over the rad, as it's at the top, I know this isn't a problem when the PC is powered, but when it's not...

Option2:
Mount the H100i at the front, then have the 2 fans as intakes (but the problem is then the space for SDD and 2 HDD as I think I'd have to remove both HDD cages)
Bottom fan as intake
Rear exhaust
Two top as exhaust (with dust filter over each tongue.gif)

As a rule, is it better to have a positive, negative or 'equal' pressure?

Any advice/suggestions welcome!

Go with option 1.

Option1:
Mount the H100i at the top, have the 2 fans as exhausts
Rear exhaust
Bottom fan as intake
Two front as intake

This is the same as my set up (except I use ThermalTake Water 2.0 Extreme).
