so he should also get a 125w heatsink or greater? and where can you find this info on? when i looked at specs for that cooler it didnt list the watts on it.
brands on their webpages leave a specification list, but this just a matter to know because amd and intel cpu exchange heat to the ihs/heatsink in a different way and the heatsink`s performance.on amd is different on intel.so you have to check reviews and see the average on which the heatsink behaves

if anything the 8core would be better for streaming, recording, multi-tasking and using multi-threaded programs.

You need some better cooling without a doubt, and thats bad when you have someone with an 8320 using a TX-3 (which is really old) telling someone else they need better cooling lachen.gif

also is it just me or is 1.4v for 3.0-3.4 really high?
my 8320 uses 1.3v for 3.5, and can go up to 4.1 with the same 1.3v without turbo, with turbo it would go up to 4.0 but use 1.4v it never needed. Silly amd doh.gif

if you have turbo boost on, turn it off, it uses extra volts for a boost when you probably dont need the extra volts and it could help with heat, that and I'm hoping you do have it on when I look at the core temp shot with half your cores at 3.0 and the other half at 3.4, that's either the turbo boost or some horrendous throttling from the lack of cooling.
Hey I am not aware of turning a boost on or something, however its prebuilt and they could've installed something. The only thing that acts in that way is the EPU4 Enginge which has a boost mode, but I never have it running in the background. I don't know if that still affects the cpu passivly

Is the Thermalright Macho 120 a good cooler even if I chose to upgrade my cpu in the future?

Ok so I just played a league game without anything in the background and it went fine ( which is really rare tbh. I also got the framedrops without anything on in the past). However as soon as I opened up a stream it went berserk again. Here are the results:

I know you might say: who plays league and watches streams at the same time, but the drops also happen when I listen music and have a skype call running in the background.

1.4v does seem like quite a bit for 3.4GHz, any chance you could nudge those down a tad?
I don't know, how do I check this?

I already did this, but thanks!

for that case yes, even for an intel processorr at 4.5ghz

I'm getting a feeling it's stability issues then. Maybe the 1.4v really is to high? No way load would go up that high.

I really have no idea what the whole 1.4v thing is about biggrin.gif Can somebody clear my mind?

Okay, I guess im going with that one. So where can I check if I've boost on? I'm pretty sure that I haven't boosted anything. The only thing that is maybe boosting something is the EPU4 Engine, but its not running in the background. Should I just uninstall it?

I dont use. Amd.so I cant talk on that,

But before buying take meassurement from the cpu to the side panel to know the cpu clearance the thermalright macho 120 is 151mm in height.another smaller shoupd be a nh c14 or a ph tc14cs or

Well in simple terms (I can't get very techy about it myself) it's the amount of power the psu delivers to ur cpu. If it's to high w/o the proportional increase in multiplier, it can cause stability issues. Basically giving to much power. Some one else can explain it better. But I don't use amd so I can't say what voltage is high and what's not

CPU is only at 1,4 GHz in that screensot while only at 49°, that's really weird. You tried resetting your BIOS, those people who build your PC maybe did something wrong there? But i also recommend a better CPU cooler, temperatures are too high regardless. And a bigger cooler will also make less noise so just for that it's worth it.

Also, what's the cooling of your case like? How much fans are in there? The air that comes out at the back is it pretty cool or very hot?
