FX 8320 + Gigabyte 970A-D3P Overclocking Boot Issue - Page 3

I created an account just to tell you the weird boot up problem you are having is due to a redundant bios setting called 'cpu unlock' under bios which you should leave disabled because for our fx processors it doesn't do anything; the feature was for older cpus to unlock more cores (x2,x4). With my 8320 overclocked to 4ghz and the same motherboard as you I eliminated the shutdown boot up problem and shaved seconds off my overall boot. Also I have my vcore up a tiny +.075 for a stable 4ghz overclock as I have tested for stability using 30 minutes of prime95. I hoped this helped.

I am going to try this, and if it works!!! IF IT WORKS!!!! I WILL LOSE MY MIND!!!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! I wasted 5 seconds each boot for the 290 days I have had this system for a total of 25 minutes wasted!

Edit: Went into BIOS, and cpu unlock was already disabled. Tried with it enabled, still same boot up. Oh well. I have gotten used to it by now, but still. It would be nice to not have this issue.

I'm sorry to hear that, did you update to the latest beta bios? Mine is currently version F2j (12/29/2014). I was looking through the screenshots on the first page and although the bios look similar to mine, there are some differences, seems like he has more bios settings than me.

Thing to note: My motherboard model is 970A-DS3P, it shouldn't be that different.

So I finally cared enough to try and figure out what it was. I fixed it. I think it was because I had boot set to UEFI and Legacy. Switching to UEFI only fixed it. thumb.gif
