Tomb Raider is tough to overclock with any Nvidia card. I've always been about 50 mhz lower than everything else.

If you can run 1254 mhz in the majority of games, you have a better 780 chip than the vast majority of 780 owners.

My first Classified 780 would artifact at 1254 mhz in Heaven at stock voltage. It had a fan rattle so I rma'd and the next one was as good as my HOF.

My HOF and my two 780 Classies both would do a max voltage of 1.187v stock bios.

Bios does determine the stock voltage. Sometimes you'll see 1.20v but it's not common and it means virtually nothing.

You're getting yourself worked up over nothing. You have a great chip and a great card. Play games and enjoy it.

Just want to clarify i reach 1254Mhz this is the max boost in game not the gpu clock nor the boost clock so i still have good chip?

Yes. That is where I was running my Classified and HOF for daily use.

There are many 780 out there that can't hit 1200 mhz stable for benches let alone daily use.

You would have gained nothing by going with the Lightning or Classified. They do the same as the HOF at stock voltage and while they can use more voltage, heat becomes an issue with that extra voltage in a hurry.

Thank you for the information so i think i dont have to worry about my issue.... and i think people who reach +1300Mhz and be stable there with stock bios and voltage they are extremely lucky to win the golden chip lottery....

Exactly.

When they pick the chips, they pick for a minimum criteria not a maximum.

Of those chips, some will be able to do a litter better and a few will be able to better than that.

But the gains from getting the card from 1254 to 1320 are going to be so small in reality, it's not worth worrying about.

I could play FarCry3 at 1320 mhz on my HOF @ 1.212v with Sky's bios. But with the high gpu usage like FarCry3, my temps ended up closing in on 90c so I didn't.

At 1254 mhz, I never broke 80c which is where the chip is designed to run.

for sure you have a good chip/card
reach 1254 at 1.187v is very very good

my only point is locked voltage, maybe I don't understand how it work but my both GPU go over 1.2v

my A1 can reach 1.225v and my B1 go to 1.25v on stock Galaxy bios, never installed any other mod bios

bios for my B1 is 80.80.21.00.5c
bios for A1 is 80.10.3A.00.6B

my wife take some shoot of what mV I can add to my both GPU
the max is different

for my A1 is 38 mV around 1.225 max



for my B1 is 63mV around 1.25 max



is there something I don't understand?
I tried these voltage and both work
I was sure the diference was because A1 vs B1

not from B1 to another B1

this mean im very lucky and win chip lottery on both? im not these kind of lucky guy

Where are you getting the information from that the cards are actually doing this voltage?

Both cards have a controller that's hard locked to 1.212v maximum. It can be tricked into more with the afterburner mod but it's not easy.

What tool are you using to confirm more voltage?

i apply it and i saw it in precision X and GPU-Z when running Valley

you put a doubt in my head now

i will return home and take some pics, i will not let my wife did this

but im sure, i can put more voltage on both card, i reach 1400mhz, just dont remember the voltage and had some artefact

and run both at 1345Mhz, at 1.2v for 24/7 OC

you see this in the video i posted in previous post in this thread, look at 1:47

Something is not reading right. Like I said, the voltage controller in the HOF is hard locked to 1.212v and not even an unlocked bios can change that.

That 1345 mhz, is that the reading that Valley shows onscreen during the run?
