[Official] Galax (Galaxy / KFA2) HOF Owner's Club - Page 362

Hello,

I just got the HOF 1070, spectacular model.
But I have a problem:

When I press the button to make the OC hyperboost quickly, the fans are activated at maximum power, making a lot of noise, and MSIafterburner not show me drive up the core mhz or memories. What's going on?

Greetings and thanks everyone, I'm New Here!

Yea Looked for Galaxy in the forums, there was nothing, Didnt think it was a big deal, at least for now. When Galaxy was main stream I bought the gtx 470, it was my first gpu. For the first build / water cooling with a danger den water block. Had hopes to max out 1080 monitor it did for 60 htz. Held on to the card using it in different PC's and recently sold it. Held on to it for about 5 years with no problems.
Saw the cards online and went looking in the stores, nothing then went to the Galax store. Yes found were to buy them. I was hoping for the HOF but they were out of stock and I couldn't afford it. Getting the 1070 was a hard enough punch in the wallet. Still cant complain, back trying to clear at least 60 fps 4k.
Everything was out of stock, they did show EXOC the white version, and that looked good, almost as good as the HOF but none were in stock. Looked at the black and thought that will do. The lay out is perfect for what I needed. The vrm had a independent cooler, vrm screw holes were aligned perfect big perk. Its not white, well can over look that.
They didn't offer full water block for it, and didn't know if I wanted to go that route anyways.
It seems that all the full size cards Zotac, MSI etc etc dont have full size water blocks for them yet

I'm pretty sure hyperboost only maxes the fan speed go to maximum. It doesn't overclock anything else. That's what is was on the 970/980HoF. on the 980ti the hyperboost button is actually dual bios button smile.gif

What ever its worth, I've always used gpu'z and hasn't been wrong, Far as setting overclock's and finding MHz. Even to proof read because they do the 0 to +235 showing nothing for mhz actual clock. Could track you frequency's as you bench as well as they variate.

All right Update of the update, dont know if anyone is interested, but might be all right due to no water blocks listed for 1070 EXOC / EX, Bits Power has a killer one with back plate for HOF. Still trying to make that climb, the water block and GPU well into 700.00 range, no shipping fittings etc, Oh wow EXOC that looks good, maybe go over here and get this card.
Took some pics and will explain

Good news fittings clear copper plate

To make exactly to the edge of the card you need 46mm

1 20mm straight 1 15mm straight and 1 11mm rotary =46mm then add angle fitting of choice
(I like the multi port for any add on's later)

If your not creative about compression fittings they may collide (Warning)

If using compression fittings need at least 11mm to clear card, To keep Tubing Caps from contacting card

Now just need to water proof everything and add a Peltier, Freeze it Frozen

seems rather expensive just for a 1070. Why are you putting it under water?

A 1070 oc is equal to a 1080 stock. A GTX 1080 is 650.00 by its self. My card and water cooler about 475.00
The money issue, other wise GTX 1080 full water cooling, I hate money never have enough
Then I could Have 3 1080's for each ultra wide 8k monitor, oh wet dream

you can't 3 way sli a 1080.

and a little pointer, you could 2 way SLI 980ti and beat 1080 performance for about £500

an overclocked 1080 on withcer 3 1440p gets about 65-70 frames. 2 way stock 980ti get 75-80 frames. overclock the 980ti's and you'd get about 85-90 frames.

a 1070 for 475 under water isn't as good as two 980ti overclocked. even 980ti on air would smash a 1070/1080. temps don't help increase overclock on maxwell. My card can run at 70 degree, even 80 degree and it will never lose performance. my custom bios keeps a forced voltage, and forced boost clock so it will never lose performance due to temps. putting my card under water would not increase my overclock either, i've reach the limit to what I can get out of it. putting my card under water would only make the temps better which to me don't matter.

you should have tried to pick up 2 reasonable 980ti's and SLI them for best performance to £ ratio

Thought about 980ti, they run about 350.00 used. There suppose to be good for the overclock. Buying used and building a system at the same time gets risky. If you cant test the card right away, lie awake every night until the system is done. New its like no worries. Then the GTX1070 dont have to hunt as hard picking the second one up, when money comes in, or after you find all the change in the couch. Looking in dryer too, then the washing machine.
Water they say it doesn't matter , but facts are on a engine like a motorcycle its a for sure 4 to 5000 rpm increase. dont know if maxwell is that warm where you need water for overclocking, but every card I have had even stock the noise is unbearable, even at a distance. A load held for a long time and the heat will add up and fans will scream.
The Overclocking of the 1070 I dont know 15% 20% they say 30% from the 980ti at a much lower base clock
Is the Bios changed for maxwell? I'm coming from GTX 780 sli 1440 RES Overclock on air is ok there too, but if you really crank it through bios its a game changer. The DSR monitor change no problem, even from the stand point of gtx 780's maxing 120 htz, was cool. Go to game and nvidia control panel max everything no probs
