For what it's worth the skyn3t BIOS (B1) is pretty good! The card I have is able to hit 1202 Mhz @ 1.100 mV only. Plus the card runs cooler compared to the stock BIOS I had!

I hope when skyn3t mods the A1 BIOS that failwheeldrive gave, you guys flash it! I'm pretty confident you'll be seeing more stable OCs and slightly better temps.

For anyone who is in the market, I notice the HOF 780 is "in stock" on their website for $540.. Really wish I hadn't picked up so many nvidia cards for mining lately. Maybe in a week I can be running sli if they still have them in stock.

mad.gif they don't ship to Canada and TigerDirect.ca sell the 780 HOF around $850

At that price, it's already at $829! Where are you from anyway?

In my case, I got the card because it was priced the same ($705~720 - depending on conversion rate) as a couple of reference cards and the Zotac AMP Ti edition (which also uses the reference PCB), where I'm from. It's an awesome card, since I can clock mine to 1240 Mhz (on air)! It's Crysis 1 & 3 (playing for hours) stable and bench stable. I'm sure once I put a water block on it, I can push it some more!

It's a great card and it looks good to boot! thumb.gif

I have a couple questions:

1. I've noticed a while back that a bunch of owners of the GTX 780 HOF had their cards dying on them. Does the updated bios fix this? I have an A1 revision with the updated bios, but I'm a little paranoid about it.

2. When overclocking, why is it necessary to push the black button on the back? I know it spins the fans at 100%, but I don't plan on using my PC with the fans always at max RPM.

1. The BIOS update fixes the issues with unstable clocks and voltage (among other things) leading to issues with cards, so, yes.

2. The black button is used primarily if you're OCing your card and using it to game and bench and want to run your fan at 100%. It also supposedly helps push your card more so you can OC higher. You can elect not to use the black button (and still OC) and use a fan profile to control your temps automatically.

When I have my fan speed set to 100%, it hovers around 3080 rpm. Pressing the button increases it to a maximum of 3320~. Also pressing the button locks the voltage at 1.162V at least for me.

Edit: Holy crap Snef, that's absolutely the most gorgeous pc I have ever laid my eyes upon. I really wish I could see that in person!!
